I'd bring out my personal overview of Sirius as far as I could evaluate it:
1. Jump ship concept - ok, I find it very interesting BUT some changes are ought to be made:
- HP of jumpship should be fixable when we finish story missions on one planet, 'cause how are we supposed to explore Sirius if our ship lasts for only 2 days (with graviton shielding). So when we complete missions on a planet it should give us option to repair Jump Ship hull using "quartz" from clay collectors that land when missions are completed. We deserved repair option as a reward at least.
- Moving jumpship and allocating gravitons to shields should be available to Officers, Captain and Admiral not only to Cpt and Admiral because many times Cpt/Adm are offline and ship is practically unused.
2. Gravitons:
these are RARE, and as such when donating them to clan we shouldnt be limited to 3:1 ratio. It is way too unfair and in order to "maintain a working jumpship" we need gravitons to drop a bit more often and that we can donate them to clan in 1:1 ratio. BUT if we want to MAKE/CRAFT some specific graviton then we should have 3:1 ratio. so for example we have 3 blue gravs but clan requires more red gravitons - we CONVERT 3 blue to 1 red gravs and donate the needed graviton.
3. Interplanetary travel inside Sirius system:
Once explored (i.e. visited by the clan jumpship) planets should be available to go back and forth using standard flight, and not to be forced to PAY gold to travel back. Moving jumpship to next planet i.e. jump drive cooldown time absolutely HAS TO BE DECREASED.(example: Even with 125% faster jump drive cooldown speed provided by planet Xesys we couldnt have the drive ready for a WHOLE DAY - to say that this is a drag, boring and silly concept would be an understatement). I'd say 1 hour jump drive cooldown time is good balance enough. However I do approve and like the idea that planets have unique features bonuses and penalties like: faster/slower jump drive cooldown or lets say they can make energy fields more ample or scarce or better/lower cryonite drops you get the idea.
4. BLUEPRINTS (gear, ships) - armor for prototype class - enemy strength
ok so we found out that mantis in sirius are very difficult to kill (vendetta/CQ ship/constructor takes full squad to bring down and even then there is good chance people will pod often). even regular mantis are hard to kill solo. However huge praise I give to AI of mantis units now. More intelligent i.e. they will run to their friends when low on HP luring you to follow them into a trap. ^^
Prototype class ships were promissed some sort of upgrade in Q&A with SS pt 2 thread: http://forum.pirategalaxy.com/viewtopic.php?f=320&t=18792
most players expected next armor, some expected class specific upgrades (storm +to firepower, tank +to HP etc) but they got nothing. This is not a way to treat player community SS - people should be given what is promised.
Finally BLUEPRINTS - new gear and new ships are to be found in Sirius. Indeed but there is a catch here. Sirius gear now require 24 BPS pieces. This is more than double than best gear on Hive. But the main issue is that tech is listed BELOW Draconis rare gear, i.e. it is weaker than what we have now. Why? What's the point in spending 2 days of shooting extremely difficult mantis to complete 1 BP which is weaker than what you already have (if you have Draconis rares but most people did manage to find them by now). It is pointless, frustrating and TIME CONSUMING. Tech form higher systems has to be stronger or what's the point in keeping on playing?
5. Missions, Planet destruction (i.e. changes in the singularity)
this is something I do not like at all. If I understood it right, planets get destroyed after some time and new ones are generated. My question here would be "What about missions we completed on a particular planet prior to its destruction?" I mean ok, you can destroy a planet in 7days but it should come back again lets say in 2 - 3 days and to be in the condition we left it (if we completed missions they stay completed and our revealed map stays revealed - these are all efforts we put our time&money into so they shouldnt be taken away from us by simply destroying a planet) :frown:
6. GM team briefing - this is something SS ought to do. They need to inform GMs about how singularity works so that when players ask about clarification in SUPPORT CHAT they can actually get it. GMs are put into unfavorable position by being kept in the dark and players too along with them. Pirate Galaxy is not CIA headquarters, the Pentagon or some other secret stuff - people are ought to be informed what is expected of them, how to achieve something and ultimately to be treated with proper RESPECT, cause we, the players are here FOR YOU SS, NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. I strongly disapprove attitude towards player community in a manner of telling them: "I am not giving any hints or telling anyone anything how to do things in Sirius. Discover it for yourselves!" (actual quote from one of GM staff, it doesnt matter who said it, the sole concept of such rudeness is bad enough)
So there it is. My overview on Sirius based on info I accumulated there. I hope that some of my ideas along with CapnSanta's revision and all other constructive suggestions from people WILL BE HEARD by SS in order to keep PG alive and make it better.
Thanks for your time reading this.
