In my opinion the current system to ban players from OTB is a bit Unfair. ( I have no idea if this is the right place to write this btw)

Recently on Kalgan we had an issue with 2 players loosing connection just before landing, making them miss the land window and getting a 1 week OTB ban. We figured it was a bitunfair as it's not something they can control. In addition on Kalgan we have very few players, making it difficult to have OTB most of the time, with 2 player being banned now it is even harder.

So we thought of maybe instead of an "instant 1 week ban" if you don't land or are AFK, maybe have a warning system. As in instead of immediatly get banned you get a warning that last let's say for a month, that way if it's a 1 time accident the player can still do OTB, but if the player is a repeating offender and they get let's say 3 strikes they then get a more severe punishement as they did the crime 3 times within a month, so maybe 2 or 3 week ban.

Would it be possible to see this implemented ? or maybe someone has a better idea ?

Hi @Bolossedu14fr,

I agree there that the OTB penalty system could use some improvements. However, I am against reducing the penalty as it can lead to abuse of the already exploitable rule. There is a 5 min window after enlist phase for a player to land which should be plenty of time.

If you had valid reasons (connection issues or crashes) you are always free to appeal the ban via a ticket to support or by messaging the gm/cm for the respective server in pm. If it is justified the ban/penalty may be revoked.

I agree with Genjiro that the penalty should not be reduced, in fact I'd even say it needs to be harsher for repeated offenses.

Now, I think what should be removed is the "5 minutes to land" rule. I see no point to it, and in cases of disconnects it punishes the entire team. Why do we need that rule? If a player wants to wait 5+ minutes just to be the last to pick a ship they are already putting their team at a disadvantage by simply not being down there. If the player stays in orbit for so long that they no longer meet the "active pilot" criteria, that's on them too. So, I see no point in the 5min rule. That doesn't help with bolossedu's case right now, but I think it should be discussed for the future.

Also, as a side note, whenever the team panel craps itself, you have to change zone and come back to orbit to see what the teams really are. If you have a laggy internet, that's already 2 minutes out of 5. If you then have to go to hangar and switch ship/drones/items, then come back to orbit then land, almost the entirety of the 5 minutes are spent in loading times leaving you with maybe a few seconds to set your ship. If you didn't crash/had to relog while doing all that, of course, and if moving drones around didn't need you to doubleswitch configuration.
Example of the team panel going mad and needing a reload: 1755084310945.png

Far already gave enough reasons why removing the 5 minute rule would be more harmful than beneficial, how fun it is when the game closes suddenly, because yes, just opening it again is like a minute and a half, also, the first 5 minutes of the cq are the least important, the winner is not decided in those 5 minutes

100% Agree, penalties for players who are AFKing in CQ should gradually increase as the players AFK more and more. You could even argue that in some cases harsher penalties are also warranted as trolls who afk in CQ just to mess with other people are not that uncommon. Also the 5m rule makes no sense, if one of the players in your team loses connection the only thing that the 5m rule achieves is to punish the team of the player with the bad connection.
