I came to PG last September. And, a couple of things have always made me feel less than comfortable since my arrival.

1.) Why are GM's allowed to lead double lives, as GM's and as Players? And, as GM's acting as Players appear to be either Clan Commanders or Upper Ranking Clan Members, don't these same people have full knowledge of activities by their clans and members? What I am suggesting, and I am not suggesting the current GM's but past GM's, have had full knowledge of everything going on. Now, I am not suggesting unlawful conduct by GM's. I am simply pointing out that GM's from the onset of this game were charged with the responsibility of shaping the game. And, deception was used in this effort. But, that is part of the Internet. Most sites/games populate by use of employees or agents acting as users/players to demonstrate activity to attract users/players. So, why are GM's still running clans and continuing deception within the game?
2.) Hacks and/or Developers Cheat Codes have been in use since before I arrived, and have been used with full knowledge of GM's. I recall an incident a few months back where a player attempted to acheive a top warscore and by some miracle an opposing player was able to acheive an exorbitant lead on the first player in a really short time frame. I searched high and low throughout the entire game for the second player to be grinding away full scale on 20 Harvesters at a time to acheive such a dramatic increase over the other player, and never found the second player on a planet at all. Control of the "Ladder" has not changed since I started playing this game. And, you cannot even suggest that GM's were not aware of this.
3.) Hacks and/or Developers Cheat Codes in use during Cq's are and have always been in use. I cannot recall a single Cq in which there was combat, not asking myself "How is that player able to withstand such a severe beating, while my equal ship is podded in three shots?" The answer is simple, and there is no way GM's were not knowledgable of such use. What, you really thought that other player that superior to you in playing the game? Don't kid yourself, lag being as severe as it is somebody has to get to the front to pull the rest of us there.
4.) System Lag that cost Players unreasonable expense appears to be an acceptable occurrence in this game. Recently, we ventured into SOL. If you were/are fortunate enough to have the firepower and the local bandwidth to lessen lag, you were provided a chance at a fair game. But, if not one of the fortunate few, you were stuck playing missions over and over, and over again in hopes of completion of the mission. Have you sit back with your calculator and calculated the actual expense this is to you? Even if you are a Free Player, calculate the energy loss for each event during the mission. Every time you shot your blaster, used your repair droid, afterburners, fired a rocket, or any other action you take that sucks away at your ships energy during a mission . . . is an expense to you. Add your energy usage for that mission to the cost of repair at the hanger, any energy usage trying to hyperthrust back to collect your lost crystals on the planet, and multiply it by the amount of attempts made for the mission. Then, go see how much it would cost you to replace that much energy at the prices in the "Item Shop" to see how much it is costing you. Be prepared to be displeased with the result. I have attempted numerous missions in which upwards of a dozen attempts failed. And, then later after "restart" when lag is less and fewer players in game, been able to complete the mission or make significant progress in a single attempt. So, why am I stuck being charged over and over again because the game is on a less than capable server? As a "paying member" I have certain expectations and the game maker certain responsbilities for provision of a reasonable game environment.
5.) The changing of system settings to provide a slower game has not been done in a manner conducive to fairness to the consumer. From the very first day that I started playing this game, the game maker has without any consideration being shown the consumer, made changes to the game. When I purchased my first game membership, the game settings were at a certain point. That point is what I paid for. I did not give you my money for you to change all the parameters of the game, after I paid you. That is similar to purchasing a nice sports car, painted bright red . . . and after paying for it getting a old white station-wagon delivered without recourse. Now, I am a reasonable consumer and realize the need for bug fixes and other necessary programming changes. But, changes that impact a level playing field within the game and/or changes that dramatically increase my costs to play the game, are neither reasonable, nor acceptable in my opinion. The game maker has a responsibility to provide me what I paid for. I could care less if the game maker wants to slow game progression of the game to suit their needs, I just don't want it to cost me more money without so much as a concern for my wallet.

The point I am trying to make with the preceding, is that some serious finger pointing has occurred, affecting the player base of this game. Use of hacks and/or game cheats started way back in the beginning and with GM knowledge. The game maker themselves have created reason for consumer concerns over pricing and practices, and suddenly someone decides it is okay to ban a significant amount of the playing membership from the game without taking responsibility for how the problem began and their lack of concern for the issue at that time. The game system has been demonstrated insecure and numerous players subjected to hacks that affect their money and/or make them suspect of wrong-doings, and regardless anybody else's opinion I believe too heavy a hand has been laid upon the matter, allowing no reasonable recourse for anybody to object to the actions taken short of a court of law. This is a game. And, it is a game in which player interaction is probably 50% of the reason for playing the game and probably a bigger percentage of why I pay for membership into the game.

SplitScreen you just took over running the game. You have not corrected the problem but created a probability of a different problem. Look at it this way . . . I hate Miike (yes, dislike him in earnest) but removal of him from the game, robs me of a key element of the game. My clan had every belief that hacks and/or cheats were being used against us, and were taking measures to acheive victory against him. And, intended to do so without use of hack or cheat. With the exception of my lack of love for the aforementioned, even adversary's within this game are friends. Your actions are subjecting my friends and enemies to removal from the game, some of which I know to be victims of this issue, regardless of what your logs and evidence tell you.

While I do not condone use of hacks or cheats in this game, the game maker and all of the parties invloved in management of the game up to this point have to accept a portion of the responsibility for the game being where it is today. And, I support the game maker having the right to decide what action to take in this matter, provided they know all the facts, and do not disrupt my enjoyment of the game. And, SplitScreen you do not know all the relative facts and you are seriously impacting my enjoyment of the game. Who cares if a bunch of players hacked the game and got themselves a Parsec? The Parsec was a "sucker-ploy" to make money in the first place. The Parsec is a dog, usless unless given significant improvement in the second place, and an easy indicator that system security requires improvement, in the third place. While SplitScreen may not recognize their need to resolve the issue in a more reasonable manner, I (the paying consumer) do see the need for different resolution if I am to continue to enjoy my game.

It would be nice if Moderators allowed a thread to be responded to to see if others share my opinion, oppose my opinion, or perhaps the game maker would like to respond. Censorship is a crime of all free countries. I do believe there is other media this topic can be taken to, should it not be allowed posting herein.

Whats the problem? They cheated and got banned! End of story case closed! The cheaters know what they did and now they have to suffer the consequences of it, very simpel. They are free to start all over with a new account if they so want. And of course GM´s have a separate player account then the GM account. Thats just common sence!

You are very narrow minded to think that people will just roll over and accept this, not one of the conditions of response within the ula have been met not are the legal requirements.

May I suggest you research this before you bury yourself in 32 law suits

Just accept the fact that you were so stupid to cheat and that you got caught! Dont act like a child man...
If you want to see the evidence we have against you then you can contact our legal department in hamburg. And you are making a big mistake by threating me with law suits get that one thing clear!

Datajam's original post contains vitriol and expressed anger against a perceived injustice.

I have carefully read that post and tried to extricate the objective opinions from the surrounding subjective anger.

I feel that datajam has made some valid points which I tend to agree with regarding the perception of cheating and hacking seen previously. I have to disagree with datajam's method of delivery and do not condone it. That said, I hope that the salient points will be addressed and answered by the management.

The points I see are:

1. The apparent condoning by some GMs of cheating and hacking in the past does not seem to have been adequately addressed for the present and future.

2. The game and particularly membership benefits have been changed without reference to the paying members.

3. The balancing attempts have not been completely successful.

4. Lag is detracting from the enjoyment of the game by the players and incurs a cost that can be calculated in real terms.

5. No effective method yet exists to deter (not prevent) bp and cry theft.

Regarding the bp theft I have played a game in the past where ore-thieves not only got away with it but the game mechanic punished the victim for attempting to get retribution. This situation was eventually corrected by the application of a criminal flag to the thief's ship allowing the victim to attack with out non-player-police intervention. The equivalent here would be instant pirate mode for the thief as a cost for the theft, making them vulnerable to immediate reprisal.

Respectfully,

Okay stop the non productive commentary and insults. The facts are right before you. Yes, some people did use hacks and cheat codes. But, the prior GM's allowed this to continue without doing a thing about it. And, I have no doubt that the prior management and GM's used hacks and cheats to advance their game positions as the chose to. Now, SplitScreen takes over and decides that they are going to enforce the law. And, if the prior GM's by act of doing or by act of not taking appropriate action were participants, then SplitScreen need to take a fair action. You cannot call everybody a cheater if the game provided it to them and complaints were ignored.

You found one hacker, maybe fifteen people doing what they had done since the game started, and maybe sixteen victims of idiocy. Ban the hacker, warn the do-errs, and fix the victims accounts. But do not screw up the whole game for those of us that have tolerated the negligence of the past and tolerate the lack of performace the present to play this game and pay a more than reasonable amount to do so.

Ther is not a one of you GM's that is the last word in this. Look around the room at one another. Whom do you think is going to be the last word? None of you! The Game Maker, maybe. The Courts, possibly. To say they got caught cheating and that is that, is ridiculous. I know that you cannot believe yourself so closed minded not to hear me telling you that you do not know as much as you think you know. What if someone simply proves you wrong? And, by your reasoning it will be by legal action. Which one of you is going to stand before your boss and admit to being the cause of this mess? So, please step down from your "self-importance" and look over the situation because you will not be the last word if going the direction headed.

But, anyone of you can be the one that brings this to fair and reasonable resolve. Everybody wants the hacking and cheats to stop. So, help us stop it by monitoring the whole system, acknowledging and responding to player complaints about suspicious activities, and putting players on notice that enough is enough.

I know there are victims of this issue on your list. I have seen the names. And, as long as you choose to penalize victims without regard to your failure to protect them and their accounts, you are part of the problem. You are not taking care of your customers by subjecting them to your failure to protect them.

I care only for furtherence of the game and continued growth. I do not care to argue, threaten, nor beg. But, as a paying consumer, you should hear what I have to say. What good do you think this action is going to do as is? In addition to the loss of paying players that did wrong, you have added the loss of an equal amount of paying players that were victims of this mess, and then consider the additional loss of paying players when I and anyone else that thinks this is wrong pick up and leave the game too.

That is a lot of loss, for something you can fix fairly and save the day. And, as far as I am concerned . . . I am the most important person involved. I am the paying consumer who wants to enjoy his game and have a few laughs at the end of my day. You may not recognize my importance in your food chain, but your boss does. Perrhaps one of you should discuss my concerns with him.

So you are as well accusing me of cheating Datajam?
As known I was Dione before and you are saying we GM's cheated.
Aren't you just taking this too far, maybe the check-ups on all accounts would start with yours?

Me my brother neil1 tommyanker and Getro I can say 100% we did not cheat and this is bull, id love to know who these new gm's are as last time I spoke with Kimbo on his player account he was very pissed we de-allied his clan. EVERYONE in this game see's us online the whole time grinding, ive spent much money on gold for CRY BOOSTERS, ENERGY, and MEMBERSHIPS. If I cheated why would I PAY alot of money out of my own pocket. As for Datajam, hacking? you're such a moron at times really, you coming up with that excuse because we took all of you on alone on Venus? GROW UP. Is this the way you guys wanna take down the best clan because you cant do it any other way. Im furious at this farce, I will repeat I am NOT a cheater, my brother is NOT a cheater, tommy is NOT a cheater and getro is NOT a cheater. Search my account before I was suspended/banned I have 0 crystal and I had to recently sell ships to build ships. I want this issue resolving asap. I'll take this as far as it goes to prove my/our innocence as I know and can genuinly say we've been caught in either an honest mistake or a sabotage to me and my clan. And every player that knows us can say this unless your a jelous fool like datajam. I spent alot of time, E and many cry boosters to get enough cry for BOTH of my parsecs.

Datajam why did you sell you constructor? HMMM? Take a look at how much we play, everyone knows we grind hard and alot when we need the crystal as ive had tons of pm's asking when we're going to leave the harv areas and people complaining about it.

No I am not accusing you of cheating. I'm telling you that if you were part of the prior management you were part of the problem because you did nothing when it was rampant right before your eyes. And, if you fail to stand up and admit that I'm correct in my contention that GM's were aware of such activity and let it continue, allowing us to reach the point we are at today . . . then not only do you do the game a dis-service, but you have to face yourself in the mirror when they are done running victims out of the game.

And, do not threaten me with your concern for my account. You neither concern nor intimidate me, in any way. I am trying to be a voice of reason. Either help or step-off mate.

I wont step-off when im wrongly accused and banned with some of my friends, and guilty ones have escaped, you have the balls to say we hack, because you got whooped, and as soon as this stuff kicked off you sold your constructor. Innocent people should be unbanned, and the real guilty ones should be banned, I know many people who have cooldown/crystal hacked and havnt been banned, I didnt threaten you I asked you a question. Whatsup did I touch a nerve? Your time will come datajam as the others. And hopefully I and my comrades who are innocent, even from enemy clans or neutral who are caught up in this and are genuinly innocent, are cleared of their name and our respect and dignity are restored. I am angry, embarrassed and sad that my clan I worked so hard and spent much time on has been ruined in the WRONG way rather than on the battlefield.

You obviously don't know what your talking about Datajam. Osirus actively pursued these cheats and got some banned. The majority of the new parsecs only appeared recently so how can you blame the old management. The vast majority of the GMs were fair and were not in on any kind of cheating as you suggested. Many were in clans but were experienced enough not to let this affect their judgement. I find it disconcerting to hear that you once had a Constructor but then sold it? Seems a bit dodgy to me so maybe you are not the best to be commenting on this issue.

As a MOD and a player i am totally disappointed of all the friends i have got in this game that has been cheating.. Many of them have used and misused their trust against others friends. U Datajam.. of all, should know the minds of criminals.. And yes.. it is a criminal act to cheat..
i really hope we can enjoy this game without cheaters but i dont think it is possible.. There will always bee cheaters out there.. But at least we can reduce the nmb of them..

Odin..
