First let me state that there is a lot I do like about the new CQ system. I think the Graviton reward for CQ's is a good idea, as well as the log files required to participate. I would change things to require less log files but that is not the reason for creating this post. My problem with the new CQ system is that (while I don't know how it has affected askone) I can say it has almost completely brought an end to CQ's on the solaria server. Now, more often than not, CQ's go completely uncontested because it is difficult for any clan to stockpile enough log files. This means clans are now reluctant to spend the log files unless they know there will be no opposition and they will see a return on their investment. Unfortunately I see no solution to this unless we get more players on the solaria server.
I do however have a solution for helping to inject more fun back into the game and getting players more interested in and excited about participating in CQ's once again. My solution/suggestion is to create a more diverse CQ system in which some of the unused planets are used for different types of CQ's.
Essentially, I would keep the new CQ system almost completely intact. I think that because of the graviton reward being payed out to the victor the log file entry fee and cryo loss for podding (unless a player has cryo protect) are appropriate. A system with rewards should have risks as well.
I would however add two additional forms of CQ's purely for the purpose of creating a more diverse and entertaining playing experience. Because these additional CQ's would be strictly for entertainment there would be no sign up fees or rewards, but also no cryo loss either. I truly believe that having such a thing would foster player involvement and help to maintain interest in the game.
First, I would bring the previous CQ system back to some of the unused planets throughout the different systems. Many clans have CQ ships that were purchased for the previous CQ system and are now going unused. I think it would be a good idea to remove the CQ ships collector and bring back the beacon activator so that we could once again use these ships in the beacon style CQ's. This would be strictly for entertainment and each alliance could still only have a maximum of 25 players on the planet at a time. ....there would be no reward other than fun, but also no cryo loss while participating.
Second, I would also create a new type of CQ (resembling the old system I never got to experience) for the remaining unused planets that is more of a battle royale type of event. There would be no CQ ships and each alliance participating would be limited to how many players it could have on the planet ... maybe even taking only the first 25 to land with no additional entries. each player would get 5 lives and whichever alliance had the last remaining pilots to not be eliminated would be the victors. Once again, there would be no signup fees or reward other than fun, but also no cryo loss while participating.
In these (strictly fun) CQ's the captured planets would be property of the entire alliance and not just any one individual clan. I believe this would also allow smaller clans to flourish by allying with other small clans and being able to participate in something that as of now is reserved for only the larger clans.
Most of all I also believe this would help create a more exciting and enjoyable game by offering more ways to enjoy the time spent playing and possibly even help develop new players.
