ok, i know i started off on this forum on the wrong foot with that cry bug post, but heres my official start ^.^

we all know the taunt is virtually useless, so why not make it worth the cry?

i say, make the taunt only useful on YOURSELF and not only one mantis at a time. one mantis rarely makes a difference if someone is going to die or not. if you make the taunt go on your own ship, then all the mantis within a certain range with change to you as a primary target until the ability runs out. this way, you can use it and then protect anyone else who is being attacked by those mantis.

good idea or not? feedback wanted.

When I first heard about the taunt ability, I thought it would be great to switch on and all the mantis around you would attack you, when I found out that was not the way I decided that it has to be one of the worst BP types in the game and when I get the tank its always the last thing I get if I bother at all.

I think it would also be funny if the mantis attacked each other in the frenzy of the taunt.

ya, taunt is week and this would make it better without making it to powerful.

The suggestion you are stating is actually called an aggrobeacon. Taunt has its uses in certsain situations but I don't think many have figured it out yet.

I wanted the taunt to have the effect of untargeting an enemy pilot from you when you are targeted during pvp but apparently it would require a lot of code to do it. :(

I'd like it and aggrobeacon to force the enemy pilots near you or it to lock onto you or it until you/it are either destroyed or it runs outta juice.

not necessarily, instead of making the mantis NOT attack u, they WILL attack you. instead of just one at a time, it would be all the mantis within a certain range. this would also be useful if the person has the aggrobomb equipped :)

See good use of Taunt and aggrobomb together. If taunt would work on other than one Mantis.

I still dont get the point of Taunt, its basically a way to sign your death sentance if it attracts every stinking mantis around you, seriusly, last thing i want on Molikar is to taunt a DS squad along with all the other nearby mantis to come to the fest of my flesh.

right now taunt is useful to bait mantis to come attack you from a much longer rang then you blasters and to get a single mantis of an ally. taunt is a very situational ability. If they dropped it's price to the level of the repair droid of equal level, then i would be satisfied.

and for pvp, making it so that if taunted, you can't stop targeting the person taunting you (taunt of equal or greater rank of your ship) would be sweet and very useful in a conquest setting to solve a lone person from being a pain to your conquest ship or in pvp to allow your buddy to 1v1 in peace.

Precisely. I would get a Tank if they simply either lowered the price of Taunt or made it effective in combat. The disadvantage is everyone would have it so everyone would only be able to shoot 1 person, thus ships that are anti-tank will have a mass advantage in 1 vs 1 still.

why not make taunt a aggrobomb without the damage? It would aggro more than aggrobomb, maybe greater range, and this way you can save that friend from the DS.

Taunt arrgobomb??? thats arrgobeacon man, Taunt cause 1 item to lock onto that player, arrgobeacon causes everything around it to lock onto it.

Aggrobeacon attracts mantis to attack it, not the ship. Also, i believe it affects all mantis that wander in range after deploying.

The new Aggro Taunt will cause mantis to attack the ship. Also, any mantis that wanders in range after taunt is used won't be affected and will act like normal ai.

To be really useful as taunt only 1 thing, make it so it has a faster cooldown, ability to taunt more than one thing (taunt cooldown shorter than duration). Make it use less e.

I know I know but my point is Aggrobeacon should cause Players in PM (if ur in PM too) to target it an not be able to untarget it till its destroyed. The same should apply to Aggro Taunt but it only cause the targeted ship to target you.
