Suggestion: Item Malfunction

This may be rather technical to design/script, but to make the game a a bit more realistic, why not have some items on your ship malfunction/stop working after taking so much damage. E.g, thermoblast after 3/4 damage stops working. Repair droid, blaster, collector, and afterburner will always work. Maybe only the 4 "custom" items for each ship (e.g storm's 4 items, shock's 4 items etc.) will be able to malfunction.

I like the idea, it will take a lot of programming, and will annoy the hell out of people, but good.

As I said, it was to add more realism to the game, not to cheer people up :D

Nice idea for a realistic game but this would annoy people bad.Im not sure if they would like this.

Good idea? I dunno, I suck at grading stuff x-x
Would annoy the beep out of people? But of course!

Ah! I didn't thing of it in the things people would do along the lines of grinding c, e.g too many intys will de-activate your rockets and aim cp

Im certain thats not a good idea at all. It would drive me crazy if i was blasting a bunch of mantis and then i couldnt use rockets and then if the afterburner then slowed down while i try to escape. i think it would annoy the hell out of loads of people.

this game is not made to be ultra realistic... its made to be fun and strategic... a lot of maneuvering strategies would be lost if fx the afterburner malfunctioned... creative idea tho :D

If you had read the thread properly, you would have known that the 4 base abilities never would malfunction.

Also, i suggest... Visual damage! And when something blows up, you'll se a wreckage for a short period of time.

Ohhh... instead of item failure... part failure!

Reactor failure: At about 90% damage and only with gemini and up. The back part of your ship is torn up, and lights and lightnings come out. Your items don't get enough energy and will lose in power.

Hull damage: Increasing in effect as the total damage goes up. The hull gets torn and scorched, and the ship's aerodynamics are lowered, and so, ship speed is lowered.

Computer system failure: At about 75% damage. Your weapons miss slightly more, the radar, and targets panel doesn't work, and the game lags slightly if you select a ship.

Shield deflector failure: Only for tanks and engis. At about 70% damage, you won't be able to use shield.

Energy Coil failure is the same for shocks with stun ability.

Rocket failure for storms with rockets.

Oh, and animations for ships when they get destroyed... and wreckages! :mrgreen:

Are you sick ppl not getting podded enough or what? Might as well just program in a death pod routine so that every 5 or 10 minutes, you have a 1% chance of your reactor core going critical and you just POD instantly! Adrana, please come and lock this thread with those keys of yours!! :LOL:

I have a better idea. Randomly draw a pilot that is still only in Vega, and make their ship as strong as a Sol for a few hours and let them go pod some higher level ppl!! Make it so that others cannot tell that their ship is this strong.
