Since no one else has said much about the new challenge after it's release, I thought I'd say something about it.

In my opinion, it was a good update, the game needed some new PvE content and this added a new way to kill some time in between missions, rare hunting, grinding and so on. Now, while the main reward (War Score) isn't of interest to me, the fact that the Mantis drop Cryonite makes it still worth playing in my eyes.

Despite it's small map size, Arkon looks like a pretty cool planet, it's a interesting hybrid between some of the elements of Baumar, Mars, The Moon and Gazica, plus Draconis now looks fully finished off with Arkon now on the Star Map, not to mention Draconis as a star system feels more unique with this new addition.

From what I've played, the balancing seems fine when I played in a squad of three with some friends, it starts off fairly tame but after a few waves, it begins to get more challenging so the pacing is good.

Another thing, although the servers were acting up at the time, the update it's self was pretty much bug free, the only bug I saw was the location of my buddies/squad mates was showing the code name rather than the real name, I.E. 'Draconis4orbit' instead of 'Orbit of Arkon' but this is merely cosmetic and nowhere else is effected, only Arkon.

As for improvements, all I can think of at the moment is having a special set of blueprints that can only be found on Arkon from the Mantis waves, maybe the Mizar Sniper Items and a new set of rare Defender items for Mizar and Sol, plus, a Drone or two perhaps. Having a Rare Mantis show up after so many waves would be cool too.

All in all, it's a nice, new feature and I hope some more stuff and possibly some more rewards will be added to the challenge.

At least some other addition maybe could be done too by this mission. I have played now some rounds but think the Cryoamount is not really big or better then farming for Cryo.While you play around 1 hour on this mission in an sq of 3 or more you can earn around 3k. In the same time i make on every other planet around 10k+

So i had thought an bit about the idea and have found some ideas which maybe won´t breake the balance to strong. One of the 1st is the amount of Cryo itself which are droped by the Units... here i have thought the idea that maybe whit every wave the worth of cryo raises whit 10% from one wave to another. The first Wave drops around 100 Kryo per unit so this is the start amount.
1st wave = 100 Cryo
2nd Wave = 110 Cryo
3rd Wave = 121 Cryo
4th Wave = 133 Cryo
5th Wave = 146 Cryo
and so on so that you have the feeling every next waves brings you also more Cryoamount cause i have noticed that the amount raises whit around every 3rd wave and drops back to start after you have beaten the 10th wave to the start amount. And only 10% + per wave are not to much not to less. What the bosses belongs i can´t make any idea here cause we didn´t had the luck of an boss cryo drop during our trials.

The other idea i had in mind was to convert the Points you earned per round into cryonite too. The reason for this thinking is relative easy depending on how strong the units are armored and how hard they are to kill you earn the points. But instead of only geting points it would be nice if you get the amount of points as cryo too. At least the waves become biger and harder there longer you can hold them back and continue. As an example you shoot around 2 hours during this mission (around 20 waves+ are finished then) but you have earned then only around 6k just from the drops. Whit the bonus of the points you could earn up to 20k then in this 2 hours as well as when you go to shoot cryos on an lower planet in an lower system whit your better ships.

At least i think it would raise then the funfactor cause you try to survive as long as posible to gain most points (cryonite) and to get the highest posible cryodrop.

The onliest thing what me wonders is why they didn´t started the challenge (if it is even posible and won´t only stay by Draconis tech) why it didn´t was maked for the Sirius tech... i think it gives way more Sirius ships already then Draconis ships which have Sirius tech inside of it... maybe an bad planing or something else but at least i hope that the mission won´t only stay for Draconis tech cause then the mission would become an routine even when the conditions would be an other one...
