2v2 Sirius Squads Tournament - Saturday/Sunday June 17-18th
I am pleased to announce the second test for PvP tournaments in Pirate Galaxy!
Please read the entire post to understand how the tournament will work, when it will take place, and the tournament prizes. Best of luck pilots!
How the Tournament works
- Technology: Restricted to sirius technology.
- Squads: 2 pilots (+1 optional substitute)
- Location: The tournament will take place in a special PvP arena. Both squads must be in the hangar during ship selection. As soon as the two squads are ready, the organizer will send the squads to the planet and teleport them to their starting positions to start the round.
- Start date: 17:00 PM Saturday Server Time till no squads can't attend / it finishes. It will continue at 16:00 PM on Sunday if the tournament didn't finished on a single day.
- Tournament Type: The tournament style will be decided a few days after the registration of the squads according to the number of squads (Direct Elimination + Round Robin or Direct Elimination).
- Division of Matches: Each Match will be divided into 3 Rounds against the same squad:
- Direct Elimination: In direct elimination it will a best of 3, the first squad to win 2 rounds will be the winner, in case of winning 2 rounds in a row, the third round will be omitted.
- Round Robin: Each defeated ship will give one point to the team, reaching a maximum of 6 points per match (important for Direct Elimination + Round Robin style tournaments)
- Round duration: Each round has a maximum duration of 6 minutes, after that, the two teams will be sent to the hangar.
- Evaluation of winner per Match:
- Direct Elimination: The first squad to win 2 rounds will be the one to move on to the next phase (Best of 3).
- Round Robin: Round robin doesn't have direct winning per match, instead points are accumulated through tournament to determine winners.
- Tie in Round Robin: In the case of a tie in points after all matches took place, extra rounds will be held until one team is able to kill a member of the rival team, this will provide 1 single point in order to be ahead in the ranking.
- Ship selection: After the end of each round, the pilots will be sent to the hangar and the squad's ship composition can be modified
Special cases
- In tournaments with an odd number of squads: If there is an odd number of squads, the last 2 squads to enlist will fight for the place in the tournament, this will be the starting Match that will take place at the beginning of the tournament.
- In Direct Elimination tournaments: If the number of squads on Direct Elimination is not 8,16 or 32, the first squads to register will pass the first round due to the functioning of the Direct Elimination brackets.
- Missing one of the enlisted pilots: If a squad is missing one of their enlisted pilots when they are asked for the first time to participate in a match, they will be able to call the substitute player specified on the post during inscription. This pilot will take the position of the missing squad member for the full duration of the tournament (including reward distribution)
Tournament rules
All rules mentioned below must be followed strictly, not following them will result in a direct disqualification of the squad from the tournament and will give the opposing team the victory to the next phase with 3 wins/6 points (or wins/points equivalents to the remaining rounds at the time of the infraction).
- Use of gravitons is not allowed.
- If a pilot has been defeated during a round, it cannot materialize in capsule. The pilot must wait in the capsule until the round is over (doesn't apply to materializer item).
- Unsportmanship or deliberately letting a squad win is strictly forbidden.
- A squad will be disqualified if after 15 minutes from when their combat had to start, they still haven't made presence in the game (Special cases will be handled by organizer)
- After the squads announce they are ready for the match, players must have a ship with the proper tournament technology, failure to do so will result in direct expulsion.
- Registered players must meet the required level to comply with tournament technology restrictions (Level 82 minimum)
- A squad cannot bring two of the same ships on a round (Ex: two Onyx Marble, two Dominators, etc).
