I just tried to launch the client on a laptop using Win 7, it keeps failing to connect to the game server. It updates fine, it just can't connect to the actual game. The browser works fine, i might add, i use the client.

I turned windows firewall off, no joy, so i ran a medic report and noticed it failed one of the tests, here's the data below.

System information:
----------------------------------
Date: Sun Mar 13 11:31:53 CDT 2011
OS name: Windows 7
OS version: 6.1
OS arch: x86
Java VM version: 19.1-b02
Java version: 1.6.0_24
----------------------------------

REPORT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Checking free diskspace:
OK
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Launch a process:
couldn't launch external process

what could cause that and how do i fix it? i'm not as familiar with Windows 7 as i am with Vista and XP...(just got this laptop a few months ago.)

Same issue on a desktop with AMD 3500+ 4 gigs of ram and a 7900 GS video card.

I've actually found an inconsistent workaround that got it working last night but not today. Uninstall and reinstall the client a couple of times and it will work... then later it won't again. It's a small client so it isn't a huge loss if it doesn't work for you. But I did play flawlessly last night for a few hours.

Today = no luck. It really seems like it isn't hardware... my internet is fine. But I can only connect to the server through the browser.

P.S. Repair didn't work when I tried it.

Identical to the OP. "couldn't launch external process"

I'd rather see some solutions answered for the OP and I'll try them. I've noticed that the same question has been asked in the other trouble shooting threads (in the different language sections here) and only one has been given a "solved" which resulted from hitting repair... but that has not worked for any of the other OPs.

Can the GM explain what "couldn't launch external process" means and what it is referring to. Also, what ports does the game use to transmit. I'll try and open them on my router.

Edit: Works on my laptop oddly enough. But not my desktop.
