My suggestion is Blackhole and A-bombs as a power source,
I got this information of a dutch science magazine, i translated it by gooble, so some things can be wrong.
Blackhole:
The mathematicians Louis Crane and Shawn Westmoreland Kansas State University in the U.S. imagine that we ever make a starship on a self-made black hole. A black hole can not just do. A giant laser on solar energy with a span of 250 km should get a job in Mercury, where the sunlight is bright. After one year collect energy, the laser ignited by a discharge of gamma radiation. The beam is focused at a point where the energy is so dense that there is a black hole onststaat that millions of tons of heavy, but smaller than an atomic nucleus. This hole is located at the site of the starship in orbit around the Sun, and the saucer-shaped engine of the ship. The principle behind the engine is that small black holes are not completely black - they will slowly evaporate. This was discovered by British physicist Stephen Hawking. From its inception sends the hole Hawking radiation, but at the expense of the hole, which is getting smaller. The probe starts with a gap of one million tons that will last the whole trip. If the black hole is placed at the center of the dish, all hawking radiation from the nozzle of the spacecraft stowed, and that gives enough pressure to make the journey begin.
the solar energy can be replaced with other energy sources, darkmatter, anti-matter, fusion or ion.
A-bombs
a very popular idea from the beginning of the year 1960 comes, is a spacecraft propulsion by small nuclear bombs behind a ship to detonate. There are even testes made also by the famous physicist Freeman Dyson, who showed that the idea works. The spacecraft must naturally firm. A large bottom plate and a number of powerful shocks absorb the shock of the explosions. The crew did a very good protection against radiation. The bombs are small and each have an explosive force of a few kilotons of TNT. They must be swiftly fired about five bombs per second. The idea was originally for a spaceship that a large crew and thousands of tons of material to a base on Mars could Breg. It would depart from earth, preferably from a vast desert. The idea died, however, when it was forbidden to atomic tests in the atmosphere to do. Subsequent calculations showed that space ships of this type is 10% of light speed to be reached, and thus within 50 years if the nearest star.
All this information is in the story of flying to another star.
