Greetings
As many of you who are new to this wonderfully immersive game have marveled at its graphic and interactive capabilities, you may have noticed something strange of late.
The name of the game is "Pirate," but how much of one can we be?
While it is fully legal for another player to follow you around swiping your Crystals and Blue Prints, using any amount of profanity is a no no. This may be a funny and ironic twist to those who recall the old phrase, "Cussing like a sailor," until the fated green text of the gods warns you that you have displeased them.
So why? A standard point that is often taken, "is to protect the poor children's eyes from bleeding as they read the words yelled by their parents in argument over child support." They play a video game that subjects them to a Human Holocaust enacted by the Mantis Empire, but the parents aren't concerned about Humanity desperately fighting for survival or E.T.'s guts splattered on their ship's windshield, they don't want their kids to see naughty words.
Common knowledge for everyone is this, what kids have seen or heard in the school cafeteria is far and beyond the terrible horrors that lurk in the depths of Pirate Galaxy. They learn lessons in "Anatomy" from their friends, they learn how "to be mellow" from the 'cool kids' behind the gym, and they learn that you're only in trouble when you get caught.
I'm not trying to say that profanity should be substituted for every second word, but I suggest the implementation of an "OPTIONAL" profanity filter to put the parents' worries at ease. (And to put the Almighty Mute Stick at rest)
But please do not go overboard with the filter and make it irreversible. Nothing hurts the eyes more than trying to say something (That isn't even profanity) on Runescape for example, where your entire line of text is replaced by Stars, thereby rendering communication impossible.
For those who are lost, here's a recap. You can steal anybody's crystals that you see, endlessly hunt level 7 flagged innocents, but you CANNOT *Slams Podium* use profanity.
-Vindication
