How about a new system of systems. Currently we are in:
Universe In Chaos: The Mantis Wars - Humanity at War with the Mantis and I-L. (PvE centered with optional PvP areas such as CQs and PM)

My idea:
Universe In Chaos: The Apocoliptic Peroid - Humanity at War with Itself. (PvP centered with missions targeted attacking other human factions. Ulitimate Objective is a Faction controling the universe. Factions are basically Clans fighting over control of all regular planets and trying to capture enemy planets and thus systems, whoever defeats the others is the winner. Factions will auto-matically reset to their game start position and pilots have to choose their fraction again but they will have all their ships and items they had before the reset.

First: Mantis - time now
Second: I-L - 50 years later
Third: PvP - 1000 years later or something

The Sanct-Danians are planning an attack on the Sol System. We got to warn them.
*Sol System Under Attack
Destroy the Invaders, they are heading to Mars. They are fleeing to Earth stop them.
*Laser Pulse Canon
They are still attacking, fly to The Moon and deliver an anti-matter energy source for the moon LPC. Stop attackers
*Antares discration
While we destroyed the invaders in sol, they destroyed the miners of the antares system. We need to deliver resources.
*Asteroids found
They keep us busy, please fly to the rings of epthos. They discovered the hollow asteroid. Kill them.
*Evacuation
Evacuate the colonists to Hypton. Atleast five must survive.
*Diplomation
The Sanct-Danians and the Aluminiums have closed a non-aggresion pact. This could be bad. We got to steal a capital Sanct-Danian ship to stop this. There is one heading to Sanct-danian, probebly an invader from the sol system. Steal the ship.
*New plan
They got a plan to attack Indusahal. But we don't have a chip. We shall have to search on Sanct-Dan.

Universe In Chaos: The I-L Encounter (with seeds being planted for the breakup of the union of humanity into Civil War) (Increased PvP missions but PvE missions still domenate)

Universe In Chaos: The Apocoliptic Peroid and Civil Wars - Humanity at war with itself in a stuggle from each of its factions to gain power of the universe (Almost Constant PvP, very few PvE missions.)

Ok, this idea what i have posted before could be an after mantis universe,

think about the fraction vs fraction, that plays in another time, the I-L could be in a more close future, 50 years later something. Maybe the imperials that changed to be friends of enemies from the colonials.

I was also thinking of a ground story, how the I-L became so powerfull and why it attacked the humans and not the mantis.

Lashida The Peace-Queen
Lashida is a Mantis Hive Qeen, it is amazing how she survived, the normal Mantis Hive Queen killed all the others so she never needed to give here empire away, and so no other Mantis Hive Queen's survived, untill a great guy called Mitoun The Saver, Saved Lashida. Mitoun and Lashida fled from system to system with there ships, and met lot's of other "Aliens", They founded the I-L to protect systems, planets and aliens from destroying, Lashida became a Mantis Hive Queen, but choosed to be passive, but when attacked they are not scared to fight back. But the Human Empire got attacked, the Mantis used the fight between the Rebels and the Imperials to get there artifacts, but soon a Pirate would change it and fight back against the Mantis. He slaughtered many Mantis, what made Lashida angry, when the mantis empire falls, Lashida wanted revenge for all those mantis that got killed in a stupid war. And so the war begun.

Mitoun The Saver
Mitoun The Saver is the saver of the Mantis Queen, and so he became the King, he wasn't stupid and invented lots of great power sources. Now he leads the army of the I-L and gets only victories.

The storyline:

Arresting
Imperials and Rebels want to arrest you because as a Pirate you killed a lot of humans. Flee.
Dissapeared!?
You enter the blackhole lagrange singularity, where many people tought you would be dieing in, but you returned 50 years later, You are missing in your time.
Search for Ivanova
You have dissided to search your old leader Ivanova, she tells you you have to choose a new name to not be known again.
New Technology
Ivanova tells you how to get new tech, Please fly to the Imperial Capital to get the advanced dark-matter technology. Deliver it to Carl Sagan, When Carl Sagan has the blueprints you have to wait till they have worked out new technology.
Attacked by Unkown
We got attacked by unknown aliens, it looks like really advanced mantis technology, but we killed all of them. You have to investigate this. Fly to tau ceti system. Get out of there, we have to report this.
Operation Extermination
We have send you into a squad, exterminate that alien. Pick up the Navagation Chip, it could lead to a big discovery, Starsystem "Rigel" unlocked.
Carl Sagan
The blueprints are ready, send them to MST to create your new technology, it can be very expensive. Instal your new dark-matter technology.
Operation 'Rigel'
We need to find out what is going on in 'Rigel', please join the spy group to find out, remember you may not be discovered. Mantis!? The Mantis are back, they are on there way to the mizar system, find them and destroy them before they reach the factories. Collect the blueprints. Mhh, new technology, this isn't normal mantis technology, please deliver it to the Handal Institute on Commerce Central.
To the Rigel-System
Pick up the blueprints on the Handal Institute, bring them to Carl Sagan, they know what to do.
Wait, my general sais you have to go on a mission to the Rigel-System, be aware that surviving it the most important. Good you survived, please collect the blueprints on Carl Sagan, and let them be build on Molikar. Please instal them and Fly to Rigel. I can't help you longer, i have to stay here, i am getting older. Take my Falcon's Fist V and prepare for your worst missions ever.

Well, and now the Rigel Missions should start ^^

Well, it is Pirate Galaxy based, not the old Mantis, but a new time a new universe.

It could be a split, the old mantis universe that is made and updated by dev's, mine I-L universe made and updated by other dev's and then the Leaque vs Leaque universe also made and updated by other dev's.

But now PG is still in the beginning, this idea could be used over 2 years.

What also could be great for the leaque universe would be that you can choose all sorts of fractions with differant technology.

With the discovery of Zero Point we can have now 5 diferant tech's:

Ion: Vega, Antares
Fusion: Gemini, Mizar
Anti-Matter: Sol
Zero Point: Draconis, (Sirius and Tau Ceti).
Dark Matter: Draconis

The problem with Leaque Tech would be Ion tech is useless against a ship with Zero Point class armor. Whereas Zero Point weapons would 1 hit kill a Ion tech user. Remeber each class has its limits of how big and how much dmg it can deal before being overrun with ineffecency and poor aim.

I think for the League vs League era a entire new class of weapontry should be invented. Why? Because if we use the Lang Singularity it would prob be most realistic to be teleported 1000 years into the future from the I-L peroid to be sure the there would be no chance relistically that the Mantis or I-L would be capable of ruling part of all of the universe anymore and there has to be enough time for seeds of envy to be laid between each of the fraction and thus boil over into all out civil war.

So all things can be strong against eachother.

What i would really like in the Leaque vs Leaque is that it's possible to have multiple guns on your ship. Ion Blasters, Fusion Blasters etc. and that the weapons placed on your ship gets more tactical.

Add like Weight. Heavy Ships move slow and reload is longer, but they are also stronger. Lighter Ships are fast but lacks on defence.
Add like bullets and rockets that you can make by yourself or buy.
Add like energy max so you can give like to only 10 weapons energy to function.

This will make all more tactical.

Deiphosys:
A small planet orbiting Rigel the closest of all the planets, giving it high temperatures, which makes it a great place for short-time visits.
Conquest

Termterros:
Termterros is both the homeplanet and capitel of the Aluminium-Skeletons, The center of the planet is the big Palace, the rest of the planet is one city, with lot's of air-highways, these air-highways are filled with spaceships controlled by one of the 50 Billion citizents of Termterros, With these 50 Billion citizens they don't have enough food, they are transported from Adenahal, the Farm-Planet.

* Proxilunos:
Proxilunos is the biggest and the only Moon of Termterros. It is home to the gouvernement and the military making it highly dangerous to enter for the ones that don't belong here. It protects both Proxilunos, Termterros and Adenahal.

Adenahal:
Adenahal is the farm-planet of the Rigel System, It produces enough food for more then 100 Billion People, but these plants are not the same as in the Solar System, it has replaced Carbon with Aluminium, This Aluminium food is good for the Aluminium-Skeletons. But this planet is both the most protected of all, if this one falls, all 50 Billions on Termterros.

Airahals:
Airahals is the only Gas-Giant of the inner-Rigel System and it is unable to land on the planet.

* Rings of Airahals:
Rigel's Event Planet

Indepentend-Leaque Embessy:
The I-L Embessy is floating close to the Asteroid Field. This is mainly used to communicate with other Embessies and the main I-L Center. It is protected very well, making it almost impossible to strike here.

Sanctuary Asteroid Field:
This Asteroid Field is empty of minerals and the only place to hide for human, its a stargate for the rebellion humans to fight of the Rigel-Citizens.

Indusahal:
Indusahal is both a city-planet as a factory planet, the city is build for the workers of the factory. Here they produce all there ships.
Third Storyplanet

* Bethous
Bethous is a moon of Indusahal. It's has a very cold athmosphere filled with liquid sulfur, making it only possible to land for short-time visits.
Conquest

Sanct-Dan
Sanct-Dan is a small planet given to the Mantis Queen Lashida on her journey to create as many allies to build up the Indepentend-Leaque. After she left to another system, some mantis stayed. They call themselfs the Sanct-Danians. They are living in peace with the Aluminium-Skeletons and are the protectors of the Outer-Rigel System.
Second Storyplanet

Theipis
Theipis is a big Gas Giant of the Rigel System. Due the high pressure it's unable to land here, but it was the perfect place for the Sanct-Danians to put an Army-Base if the relations with the Aluminium-Skeletons would ever turn to war.

* SD Army-Base
The SD Army-Base is the main defender ship of the Sanct-Danian, It's based on old Mantis blueprints but with better technology.
storyplanet

* Crython
Crython is the biggest moon of the Rigel System but also the hottest. It's filled with vulcanoes that are powered by the gravitation force from Theipis. This made it perfect for pirates to fight there own battles without interver of the Skeletons or Sanct-danians
Conquest

Epthos
The last of the three Gasgiants of the Rigel System. It is orbitted by alot of moons, called the rings of Epthos. Only one is orbitting on a bigger distance, Greiphos.

* Rings of Epthos
These rings are filled with minerals that are mined by the two fractions here. The rings of Epthos requires a lot of protection, because the many mines here.
First Storyplanet

* Greiphos
Greiphos is a moon of Epthos, it has a toxic athmosphere with big plants, making it great for short-time visits...
Conquest

Hypton
Hypton is the only planet in control of the rebellion fighters from the Human Empire. It's a small planet, filled with craters making the bases almost invisible. This made it a perfect hangar for damaged pilots of the rebellions.
Hangar

Storyline:

* Hypton
Please explore Hypton, our rebellion base of the rigel system.
* Meeting the General
General Photon is the leader of the rebellions, he needs resources for the Hyptonbase, fly to Terasa to get a Dark Matter Energy Core. Fly to Prosperous for shields. Fly to Mars for a Mining-Machine.
* Vega Under Attack
We have heard from our vega outposts that they are under attack, fly to aurora to stop the aluminium-invaders. They have attacked the mines on Kalabesh, when we were busy on aurora. This has to stop.
* Diplomatic Attemps 1
Fly to Commerce Central, we need to get our best Diplomate to negotiate with the I-L. The I-L has spotted us flying to Commerce Central, and they are on there way, we have to stop them, we need the diplomate.
* Diplomatic attemps 2
Ok, the Diplomate is on his way to the I-L Embessy, you need to guard him from attackers, he may not die.
* Rings Of Epthos
We discovered a small mining facility in the Rings of Etphos. But they are guarded with High-Tech Turrets, take this squad to kill them.
* Sanct-Danians Revenge
The Sanct-Danians have armed the Rings of Empthos, making it unable to land here, we have to find an way to enter.
* Mizar Under Attack
Oh no, The I-L is gonna attack Mizar, we have to protect the molikarian Factory.
* General Missing
When you were gone the General has been missing, We think he is on the Rings of Epthos, Fly to Molikar, we have new ships avaible.
* Invisibility
Your new ships are almost invisible, We can use it to land on Sanct-Dan without getting attacked by nearby turrets. (Acces to land on Rings of Epthos)
* Attack on the Miners
You have to take out Miners, but watch out for those turrets. don't get too close.
* Capture
The last mission had no effect, but maybe we can capture a Sanct-Danian ship with information of the General.
* Another Plan
We had no luck by getting information, but Officer Rave has another idea. Protect Officer Rave when he is gonna attack the Aluminiums to create a rift between the two.
* Fled?!
The Aluminiums left the Rings of Epthos, this could help us to take out the remaining Turrets.
* Aluminium Scout
We discovered a Aluminium Scout in the Rings of Epthos, take it out, it could have information about the General. Take the Scan-Chip.
* Chip helps
The Chip is linked to the Shield of Sanct-Dan. We are almost sure that there is more information about the General.
*Chip Outdated
The chip is outdated and won't work, flee before they attack.
*Hollow Asteroid
Protect the colonization ship, new base is coming.
*Resources
Fly to Terasa to get a Dark Matter Energy Core. Fly to Prosperous for shields. Fly to Mars for a Mining-Machine. Fly to The Moon for an Pulse Laser Canon. Fly to Commerce Central for an Cloaking Device.
*Colonization
Escort the Colonists to there new base.
*Mining Operation
We discovered Miners on a asteroid nearby, steal the blueprint and deliver to Molikar.
*New Miner
Escort the Transporter with the new Miner.
*Aluminium's Coming
The Aluminiums are preparing an attack, we may not be discovered, please stop the invasion.
*Pilot in help
There is a Aluminium almost trying to kill a Sanct-Danian, we have to stop him. Maybe the Pilot can give us information.
*Friend
The Pilot's name is Nistral, he is a normal pilot of Sanct-Danian, he wants to help. Follow him to The Mining Center. But don't get too close.
*Delivery
Nistral needs to deliver a gun from Sanct-Dan to Proxilunos. But he is too scared. Get the gun and deliver.
*Trust
Nistral still can't trust you. He wants to be a pilot of the rebellion army if they gonna attack The Rings of Epthos.
*New General
After we still didn't get General Photon back, they promoted Officer Fire to General Fire. He doesn't trust Nistral. Kill Nistral or he will hunt you down.
*Fake Dead
Nistral has a plan how to fake his death. Take his chip and tell the General that he died. He says that there is no more information left on the rings of epthos. He says that Sanct-Dan could have more information. Meet there with Deografus.
*Deografus?
He says that Deografus knows everything from Sanct-Dan. We found a ship that belongs to him at the other side of the planet. But be careful.
*Information
You tell him that you know Nistral, he says that there is a underground information base but that it is highly protected. Deografus attacks and is trying to call for help. Kill him and the others. You may not be detected.
*Attack on Sanct-Dan

Multiple guns is moving in the direction of capital ships, I think there should be 2 major classes of ships under which all other classes follow:
Fighters and Small Craft
Capital ships, Freighters, Transports, Carriers, Cruisers, etc.

I think what would be nice is like on smallers ships 4 of their slots at the time you buy the ship can be rebuilt to operate a different type of weapon or defense system, and maybe the possiblity to expand or upgrade the ship in areas to peraphs increase current weapon strenth or create new slots. The one possible problem with this is we could end up with folks having ships with 4 rockets on them which if would allow them to almost launch rockets non-stop which would create a serius problem and unblanace the game. Changing whats in slots and upgrading/adding onto your ship costs cryo.

As for capital ships should have quite a few more slots and new weapons systems they can put in those slots and all of those Slots should be interchangeable at purchase and since capital ships are usally giants there would be alot more room to upgrade and add new slots to but of course costing more cryo and reducing speed.

I think what would be nice is like on smallers ships 4 of their slots at the time you buy the ship can be rebuilt to operate a different type of weapon or defense system, and maybe the possiblity to expand or upgrade the ship in areas to peraphs increase current weapon strenth or create new slots. The one possible problem with this is we could end up with folks having ships with 4 rockets on them which if would allow them to almost launch rockets non-stop which would create a serius problem and unblanace the game. Changing whats in slots and upgrading/adding onto your ship costs cryo.

As for capital ships should have quite a few more slots and new weapons systems they can put in those slots and all of those Slots should be interchangeable at purchase and since capital ships are usally giants there would be alot more room to upgrade and add new slots to but of course costing more cryo and reducing speed.

Well, thats why weight and bullets would work, like if your ship wiht 5 rockets, you can't even move so much you weight, or you couldn't instal a repair droid cause the energy flowing in ship gets not enough.

Also, I'm talking about before you even add any slots, there should be any cutbacks or backlashes from changing a component type, only adding more.

SD Assasin
Sanct-Danian Assasins are valuable units of the Independend Leaque, They carry out much attacks with there Orbital Strike, causing havoc in all regions of the universe. But they flee when attacked because the Leaque can't suffer losses.

SD Damage Turret
This Sanct-Danian turret is a big damage dealer, but the armor lacks so it has an aim scrambler to avoid damage itself. It's mainly placed at SD Main Turrets or SD Electric Turrets.

SD Aimer
The SD Aimer is scared in most systems, it can aim at such a big distance and doing critical damage. But when using it's sniper blaster it has to reload long, thats why it gets closer and shots with a blaster.

SD Eliminator
The SD Eliminators are used to eliminate all species daring to come close to it. It can burn your ship to ashes even if you have a shield.

Of course, you can cripple a pure rocketing storm with a 2-3 stun charges, possibly a Speed Ac, and a shield or two on a tank class ship.

Now that I really think of it, it wont unbalance the game, it will simply allow for extremely specialised ships while still leting there be all-rounders. the specialised ships will simply be good at killing a few types of ships very well while getting creamed against others.

Yeah, but i think it is important to use an energy thing. Like 100% Energy when no weapon is added. 10% when an blaster is added, 5% For an Afterburner or an Repair Droid, 15% For Sniper Blaster or something.
