What is with SS with regard to BP drops. Is that really a problem? Really! Who cares??? That problem is so easily solved.
1. Complete the story missions and go to the next system.
2. Come back with the higher system ship and outfit the lower system ship with the cryonite you obtain by killing all the harvesters on the planet.
3. When your system ship is outfitted with the best equipment, go do your white missions.
I have been playing this game for quite some time and I feel I have a good understanding of how it works. You take a white mission and you are told what to get, who to get it from and where the mantis type is going to be. What more could you ask for? Great intel! Except, SS is a double agent and is telling the system you are coming and what you are coming for. Your kids love sweets, hide the cookie jar. Rarely do you have to go to where the system says to get the BP you need. If you do, you deserve to be there all day! There is not that big of a problem with mantis dropping BP's. Most mantis will drop more than one BP type. The problem that exist is that they don't drop the one we need at that particular time. (ie. you seek an a.bomb? expect a taunt. If you work closely with someone who needs a taunt but has the bomb your chances increase drastically!)
So, how has SS solved the BP "problem"?
1. A higher BP drop rate, and don't forget, mantis CAN drop both BP's and cryonite, or did they say Will. Nope, I am sure they said can. Well I can a lot of things too, but I don't! And they didn't say that they will drop the correct one.
2. They are now requiring you to spend a lot more time on the ground getting a weapon system because of the of the increase in BPs required. More time on the ground equals more risk to you the pilot.
Oh, and to remind you, these benefits do come at a cost. The cryonite value for a single drop will have to be reduced, like BPs' actually cost SS a substantial amount of money. Can you say Ching-ching? Seems like somebody has an overabundance of space in their cash register drawer.
Really! This appears to be a real winner. And, as a consolation prize for you Draconis pilots grinding so you can afford you ships, we have pocket full of afterburners. I would rather have a pocket full of what SS is getting. $$$$$$$$$$!
