LAG FEST

This lag feast your GMs are putting together is going to be a downfall.
They need to spread out the mantis, a hole lot of pilots died as well as me with out a shot and lag so bad you can hit a repair button. The GMs are putting bad events together...
They should spread out the mantis so that theres not a lag feast to start off.
Put a little thought in to this boys "GMs" so the rest of us men can live for more and 10 sec.

I also think u have to take a look at the computer u play on.. i had also a load of lag before on my old one.. just got myself a new one and have not exp any lag in the game at all..

I think you must check your computer.

Its not always the computer you play on. Its not always the user's issues. It is sometimes the game or server or bad decisions so dont say its always the players puter. some of us do actaully have nice gaming systems and still have serious issues with the game.

Its not always the computer you play on. Its not always the user's issues. It is sometimes the game or server or bad decisions so dont say its always the players puter. some of us do actaully have nice gaming systems and still have serious issues with the game.

It is not always the users fault.
But if it is a server problem everybody must have the same problem. (correct me if i'm wrong)
And you can have a nice gaming system but if you have a virus or something else needs allot system resources Then you can have lag.

i must agree with gm`s on this i have a high end graded computer and never have any trouble with lag and i play on highest details.
not even with an event i experiance any lag.

Well I certainly DO experience a lot of lag during an "invasion". This occurs only if I am too close to all the action. It is not my computer nor graphics card!! It is most likely due to two main things, 1) Internet speed ( I have ADSL so although it is "fast" it is not compared to what is concidered normal nowdays); 2) distance from server! ( I live in Australia ).

For those of you that have NO lag issues I guess you have high speed connections and are close to the server source!

Stop making it seem like their is NO lag issue when clearly there IS (for some of us)! And it's not a case of "buy a new computer"! What a useless response in trying to understand a problem! Sure, there is probably nothing that can be done about it either but try explaining it in ways other than us requiring new equipment!

Invasions equal LOTS of mantis and hence lots of information going to and from the computer. This needs a fast connection or the game stop responding! It IS a pod fest for me if I get too close to invasions as I lose control of the ship controls! Typically I cannot steer the Ship by clicking on the screen nor by using the WASD keys. All my 1-8 buttons lag so much that I am lucky if they produce their intended function within 30-60seconds after activation! The commands do get through but at a very delayed time! Many times you are already a pod and don't even know it! Even the chat window gets delayed.

It happens EVERY time I get close to the invasion source but I regain control if I manage to slowly steer away.  This is hard to work out also due to the server correcting your ships position by the all familiar "rapid zooming" back and forth, so you aren't really sure what condition your ship is in! You really have no choice but try and steer away and hope that the repair works eventually!

So whenever there is an "invasion" I clear out as it is of no use to me! If and or when I get better Internet connection then I will try it again. However, a friend who plays from the Sydney region ALSO has the same problem and they have very high speed connection so maybe it's more of a distance issue. And there isn't much that can be done about that!

But having less mantis would certainly help me! Though I can't see that happening! Actually I wouldn't mind testing that! How many mantis/players can my game handles before I lose game control..... hmmmm.

In the meantime I simply "head for the hills"!!

Im also one of those who dont get lag from events, Maybe a few parts i will lag, but other then that im fine. Maybe just zoom all the way out and tilt the camera so its facing the floor. then you wont lag

well my internet speed is 50mb/sec down 5 mb/up so i dont know what others play with.
but i never have lag issues.

I agree with CapnSanta,not everybody has a bad computer,as for my self i have a fast enough computer for this game,with a 50mb cable internet connection and i still experience lag,in my opinion i put it down to not enough bandwith to cope with all players playing and the event at the same time.

i have 50-90mb/s same for upload and download in all europe and i still get lots of lag at invasion the test was made at speedtest.net/

well i have a 3mb/700kb line.. and a good comp.. and no lag.. i do notice when the server has lag. it makes a stop in the game.. but i never exp lag under and invasion.. not after i got my new comp..

I can play with guys that have biiiiiig inernet connections and they complain about lag lag lag lag all the time.. i dont have it.. So sorry mates.. the lag u exp the most id from your own comp.. some from server but that is rare as a gold print..

I have not said that u had to buy a new state of the art comp.. but it is a pretty heavy game when it comes to graphics and things.. just look at the java what it takes up of your system..

I just think it is a bit unfair to start complaining to others about your own problems. I dont think that SS will do anything about your comp, that u have to fix yourself..

And to downgrade the game itself from where it is today that must be even worse..

Sorry Odin you are talking crap.

I live in the UK so a fair distance from the server i expect.
I have a AMD Phenom(tm) 9950 Quad-core processor,allso 8gb ram running windows vista home,a western digital raptor hard drive spinning at 1000rps my video card is Nvidia geforce GT 250 1gb of gddr3 memory allso i have a 50mb cable internet connection,and like i said previously when players are playing and a event is running i experience lag.
At the end of the day this boils down to one thing that i no would help all players and that is NOT ENOUGH BANDWIDTH,to cope with the additional information being sent to the server and then to players comps,a bottleneck appears slowing most comps down therfore LAG.
