I am not sure how well the forum search works, but could not find this particular idea on this site.
The idea stems from other games I have played in which the individual (not the game developer) would write within a host supported scripting language a set of GUI changes that enhance the interface (but not in a degree that would be game changing). One such scripting language that could be used is Lua.
The interface changes are things like where the menu items on the screen are placed, what buttons would enact which items (I would change my guns to be button 5 instead of 1, for instance). Also the additional benefit would be skinning the interface to be how you wanted the menus on the screen to look like including size and color.
I use the downloaded client, so not sure if this idea would only be in relation to that as I do not know what is stored on the machine for the web version.
