Endless load? Freeze? Crash? Cannot Connet?!

I discovered this game about 5 days ago, for the first 2 days everything ran smooth, then on Friday may 28th, 2010... while attempting to get into orbit from the surface of Vega4, my loading bar kept going... and going... and going and... well you can see where this is...... going. So after about 60 seconds, I exited with ALT+F4.

While attempting to open the game again my loading bar under "Pirate Galaxy" this being the loading bar after the splash-screen, the one that just precedes the log in, register, exit button on the CLIENT... vanished after about 1 second... after about 60 MORE second i exited the client window again. Thinking this was a corrupt file, some odd occurrence I exited and reopened the client again... 3 times and no success. So i waited about 3 hours, did some other stuff came back.. same problem. So I uninstalled... then re-downloaded and reinstalled the client. With my new client download and installation I have a 50% chance of the loading bar vanishing and reappearing, getting me to the log in buttons or just failing like before. IF I get to the log in options, i put my name in, password, connect... "Please Wait" ---> "Select a server (Pick American one)" ----> 50% chance of seeing this message




or sometimes I see the update information, see the discounted item then click past that, then sit on the asteroid belt cinematic for about... 3 mins before I finlay give up and exit the client. SOMETIMES I will be able to log on successfully, but this is random and sparatic. I played for about 2 hours this morning before my loading bar kept going, and going... I had to exit and boom, back to the same problem.

Now I may be droning on... and on... and on but I am not one to post a single or double sentence rant, I want to explain the problem as BEST as I can. Before posting this I perused the forms for similar problems, the only one I found matching my problems well was one from a WEEK ago. Where I saw a mod post something about the American server having problems. But this was again, a WEEK ago. If this is simply problems maintaining the server I understand, I have asked some people in-game when I can log on, and a few have reported similar problems.

Last thing, this isn't something to do with my computers capabilities, I run much more graphic intensive games on max settings such as MW2 and DOWII CR. Both being essence 2.0 coded. Also ran runescape for about 4 years, runescape being java made. So I DOUBT its anything to do with java, or graphical capabilities. As for internet, I have fast, smooth host capable power, and can moniter connection status with LED's on the lyniksis box.. so no base connection problems.

Anyways! Love the game, great ideas, great story's, and great graphics, JAVA mastery indeed. Yet at the moment, I cannot play ='( So please =) Shoot me some feedback, are you having similar problems? Let me know, any tips on fixing it tell me =).

yeah im having this same issue also. First last night on Friday may 28th...and now on Saturday May 29th at about 1:00pm EST...I love this game alot...but dont get me wrong or anything...its really hard to play and love this game if this keeps happening...ive gone from Game to Game...and have had similar same issues...

Hey, I had the same problem, I sent out to messages to the GM's and I posted on a bored, but same thing nothing i have had the same problems as you and i'v tried and tried but nothing, I cant even play at all I get the same screen as you have posted and still nothing, no one has said anything about anything, you are the only one who has put this much effort into finding out what is going wrong and like me i dont care what the problem is just as I know what it is so I can know how long I need to wait instead,

but no I have to wait here wanting to play the game getting mad at it then wanting to shoot it in the head, it would make everything so much easier on the player if they would just tell us something, but the only thing that I have gotten out of the GM's was before It went down one of the Gm's told me they where having "network problems" not telling me anymore then that....

I can understand if they dont really know what is going on that is okay by me, but I just want to know what is really going on so I can have some ease to what is going on, and I really hate typing this much and trying to find out what is going on when no one is helping, so please at least try to help us by giving us some sort of ease to what is going wrong here, PLEASE!

It would help so much, this is one of the best games and I can see it going so far and getting so much better so i ask again please help us with this problem it would make me and so many other feel so much better knowing what is wrong and that you guys are doing what you can to fix it, please let us know I can't ask enough, Thank you for your time,

Not being able to connect can be many issues from your computer to connection, location and yes Pirate Galaxy first try and solve the problem your end ie graphics card ram drives and so on then connection speed if you are possitive its pirate galxy after trying everything then send us a ticket telling us all you can,
Dont forget it could be something so simple you might just be missing it, have you dowloaded the latest version, we want you to play and we do everything we can to get you online but sometimes it is just up to you, you got to give us credit out of about 600 online only a few had problems.

yes everything on my end is good it is NOT my computer or internet, it is Pirate Galaxy, your game runs like a hot darn on my computer, but then stuff will mess up like the sever goes down, and I know not everyone will have this happen to everyone, but right now it say your solaria sever is RED and that it is down, so that is 100% Pirate Galaxy NOT my computer,

so just because not EVERY player has the same problem alot of them do and it should be enough of them that you would at least try to make it better, for the last 2 days it's been so hard to play your game, I get on play for some hours then boom dont work anymore for hours on end, now your sever goes down and shows up RED, that is two of your severs that are red now, so you can't tell me that is my computer,

that is 1000% your game.... so please fix it and do a better job of telling player what is really going on, because almost every player I have talked to has the same problem so come on that is the game not all are computers alright so please do something to try and make it better for the ones that are getting this this problem,

and if it's only 600 players on the sever then it should not do this so maybe you should run some tests on the severs eh... maybe right when it happens? but please do your best and dont give me that it might be your computer stuff,

IT IS NOT MY COMPUTER!!!! and how many is a few out of 600?????? that could be from 0 to 500 so how many is that???? do you even know or is this over your GM Head???
I want the truth and not this stuff, fix your game or get someone who can, come on people if you can make this game run this good you can fix a few problem like this that have only been getting worse

Allow me to detail the problem . . .

If you attempt to log on to the US server, you will note it is RED, meaning "cannot log on, unavailable, broken, stuck on stupid, or just not there." Now this in itself is not that serious an issue, had it not been a repeat performance going on it's third day. And, considering this is a US holiday 4 day weekend .. . wouldn't the US server being active do something to promote the game to new players?

Now, couple the aforementioned with the fact that there does not appear to be anybody at SS that is trying to fix the problem, and you are losing a lot of potential players. And NO, this is not a player issue. Unless all the players trying to log on the US server suffer the same computer problem.

also i would like to point out that there is not 600 players...if there was we would see lots and lots of players and galaxies being filled up and lots of low lvls and etc..

and i agree with Datajam that you guys are loosing customers for this game..sooner or later people are going to stop playing this game if this keeps up...especially if you keep telling us that its "our computer" instead of Pirate Galaxy, and keep saying that instead of going and talking about it and trying to fix it.

yeah i'm with you on that, it went red just after I was orbiting from the planet and boom stuck in mid air then I had to ALT+F4 my way out then I went to log back on and boom red U.S sever, now that is two red severs, Europe English, has been down for a few days now, and now the U.S sever Solaria is red to... as I quote" you will note it is RED, meaning "cannot log on, unavailable, broken, stuck on stupid," now how is that a player or computer problem it's not it is Pirate Galaxy's problem so fix it


Not once has English/European server been down for few days.
I have logged in to the game each and every day. If you try to login when there are server maintenance obviously the server is down.
If you are a Solarian player, with all respect, European players lives on a totally different timezone than players at US server.
Means when you have your daytime, Europe is asleep, and maintenance easy to do when we sleep, thats why there is an US server.

Tell me, is it MY computer that cause me to loose 800 cryo and some blueprints? is it MY computer that caused the problem that i am not able to go back to the vega star system, i got BEEP hard time by one of the 4 read it 4 shutdowns today. my computer is a $6000 machine, not including the mouse or anything. just the tower, so how is MY computer to BEEP. how is MY computer causing problems. and a login is a login, gamingo or splitscreen, its the INGAME play that matters. AND ITS BULL. id rather go back to playing FREE LANCER without the online multiplayer play cause this game is not making me happy. i was in fact with S1ash when one server mess up happened, so idk how its only a few people. do your job, BE A GM AND FIND OUT THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF GIVING BULL ANSWERS. GOD i hope i become a GM and give some actual costumer service, that would be the day. Krash


You are free to apply, but I doubt you will not qualify cause of your hotheadness, nor the language you use in your post, caps used, insulting the GM's etc. not a good recommendation nor a good return to become a GM.
First of all, GM's do not do the fixes, Devs do, and instead of barking on GM's try to calm down, and ask in a polite manner what you want to know.

first off...

Regardless of price ($6000 for a machine to play games is a bit crazy lol) it can be the machine e.g. a simple system registry error, or incompatible Java version... both of which have happened to me so im not talking BULL as you put it...

I will also admit it CAN be our end SOMETIMES... from experience though over 80% of the time its not a PG fault...

What you must realize is the sheer amount of connections, routers, servers, nodes and switch stations that the game has to go through to get to your screen..

A minor fault in any one of these can cause game crashes/freezes etc etc

I personally guarantee Splitscreen Studios do everything in their power to maintain up to date and reliable hardware where ever they have it...

We can NOT how ever guarantee the signal between our servers and your computer as that is down to a whole host of companies Splitscreen do not control...

If 599 out of 600 players have no issues with the game... then your problem is not with us... its either your machine, your software or your ISP...again the cost of the machine = jack if its set up wrong...

I notice none of your rants possess a diagnostic sheet from our website that your supposed to run should you have any of these issues (the link is clearly posted)....

So before banging on at us about customer service etc etc check your machine PROPERLY and provide us with actual evidence of the problem (Diagnostic report)

We have absolutely no way of even guessing what the problem is with out this report...

Trojan I think it's time to officially stop using the 599/600 statistic :mrorange:

Also I noticed some people commenting on the short time the American server was RED and unable to be connected to, may I remind you that that is different than the problem I mainly posted about, where the server appears green, yet fails to connect or give messages of said fail to connect.

Now If the PG GM's say they are trying, I am inclined to believe them, no need to get rude with them, although after seeing the first GM's post about my internet connection, I was slightly bamboozled due to the fact I talked about my web power for about 2 sentences... ANYWAYS! Lets remember to keep it cool on the forms, I know my way around the block, the JAVA game R********... I've been a forum mod for 3.2 years (if anyone here knows ** mods... there ya go.) The forms is a place to problem solve, not spew profanities or comebacks. :eek:

As for an update, I've had the problem, mentioned in my main post only happen again once, but it happened to the 3 other members of my squad, at the same time. So... once again debunking the whole 599/600 stat.

Hope to get some feedback soon.

Psyker if you are a mod at that mentioned game, I am a player, or have been there, and I am fully aware of that you break the rules in in that game if you advertise, aka write other online game names in the forum or ingame.
If your a mod there, I assume you have read and understood the rules also in this game, and the same rule exists here.

So I count 5 players on this rant.... hmmm can you do math that means that it's not 599/600 do you even read everything??? because really every GM is making them self look like they really dont know what is going on... you try to make it sounds like you do but the only thing I can see that you guy are saying is there is only one player and it's his computer problem not yours...

well I know of 5 diff players on this forum and 10 or more in game players that have the same problem and as for the Solaria U.S sever going RED that is your problem not are computers okay so dont give us your 599/600 player BEEP if you did your job and looked into it you would see it's alot more, like say prob a few 100 so maybe if you really looked it up and did what a GM does and not just say stuff to BEEP the players off then your sever would work...

see as soon as it went RED it was fixed why because you guys saw it was your problem so why cant you see that 50% of what is going on is your problem because really the player can't do anything okay and if the computer is so BEEP that it has the problem you say it does then we wouldn't play this game come on WE ARE GAMERS!!!!!

we know what to run on are computers like come on GM's what do you take us for??? and two diff GM's in game told me that it was a Networking Problem on there sever hmmm that dont sound like it's my computer now does it nope... hmmm more then one player had this problem so stop BEEP us okay we are not dumb,

I hope you and anyone else who intends to post on this topic does so in a CALM manner. Anger, profanity and rudeness only INVALIDATES any argument you're trying to make!

Upon further review of the GM's posts, more specifically Trojans I must say and I hope others having the problems can as well... that yes there are many many things SS does not control, as the game does not just come from SS to your computer with 1 wire. BUT we must also understand there is.. a problem. I would love to peruse the other languages yet... being bilingual only helps if there some German tossed in there... alas there is none.. yet I would assume there would be no similar rants. So we know there is a problem with something, somewhere... narrowing it down right? Nevertheless as many have said gamers should if nothing know how their machine works, what it can do. I can assure that my connection, capabilities and processing POWA are not in question here as stated in the original post I run MUCH more graphics, connection and processing power heavy applications.
As I've said pretty much all I can about what is happening to me while attempting to play the game I will simply ask one thing, feedback, if this involves contacting a server company be that as it may. For there's nothing as powerful... as a .. well... a joke eludes me.

So.. there, please again, keep it cool people... NOT almost cool... because we all know. "Almost only cuts it with horseshoes and hand grenades!" :mrorange:

Hahahaha! that is awesome, and yes I can keep it cool, and thank you for the very very well put post, that is just what we need for them to look into it more, greatly appreciated the homework you did there, but I know you under stand were I am coming from, but yes i should keep it cooler then I have been, but that is not the point what you have there is great and there should not be anymore of this 599/600 stuff do to that, but if the Gm's can not help us then they should tell us who can and send us there, because just saying the same stuff over and over is getting no where, we have been told the same thing more then twice know so if they dont know, then I ask GM's please tell us who can help who do we talk to?? if you cant do anything let us know so we can find out a way to fix the problem, we know most of are computers work fine, as Psyker has shown above, so please do the best that you GM's can and help us at least help are selfs, I know it's not easy to find out what is wrong when the network is not just going from you to us, but the more we know the better, we can help if there is a problem then tell us, look how uncool I was by not getting filled in.... how many other player have not said anything? just because only few what ever that number may be are having problems dont you what to help us the best you can?? I ask again help us to the best you can and when you cant help anymore let us know who can, because the best game are run on good old know how, so if you dont know try to find out please we want to fix this before to many player quit the game.... we want to help you help us, so please do what you can

sorry about the typos my bad, haha maybe I should prof read more often, dont really wright on forums.... so you know this game is good when I'm on the forum haha, but yeah just try and under stand what I am saying, there is a few things wrong with what said but like I said didn't prof read... and my grammar is not the best so dont mind that.... What pilots are not telling you (probably because they are not on voice comm.'s) is that they cannot recoonect mainly because OUR ISP STAYS IN THE GAME. That's right you crash / lock up you try to relog but guess what game still reads you as ingame even though your not even running PG or are even on a different server. If I crash / lock up it's not the game I cannot connect to it is just that server , a server that still thinks I am logged on. So please telling many pilots it is THERE HARDWARE / SOFTWARE , is rediculous.
Anyone who plays anything beta knows a Patch Glitch when you get this situation , a situation that came about I remind you once you did the CQ patch update if you think I am wrong Check Your Logs cross refference the times with the crash complaints. it is nt rocketscience.
I run almost alienware spec system , if I lock up on PG solaria I can log on Askone just fine and your game still says I am logged on Solaria (which i am not) while I am on Askone with the same account . So you Sir tell me how it is my end please , this I really gotta hear.
