there is enough "experimental science" theories out there to use and still also some established terminalogy..

im thinking towards things as:

- tachyon afterburner
- photon blasters
- Q.P. string aggrobomb <quantum physics>

and these are things that just pop in my head now without research.
and a stargate is also a made up theory so they never were sticking close to reality in the first way.
