A game with this many bugs ever went Retail i'll never know.... Seems to be a lot of bug here for this to be in retail.??? I know its a cool game but now we are spending cash to help them report and repair bugs????
What was the beta work done for to have us all here giving reports. I think that we need to step back take a look at the code and lock the DEV. in a room till he's done... Just my thoughts.... But I like to know what i'm buying here theres no real help manual or paid on line workers that I know of, Yes theres a few @ SS that play but rearly. Time to ask myself if its worth buying top dollar that I know of for game thats not quite finished.

Don't worry, the Devs are locked in a room and have been since Sol was released.

No MMO is ever bug free and completely finished as they are on-going projects. With every update, new bugs appear is normal and not easy to fix quickly. Coding is hard; many variable and is prone to the butterfly effect. We try to fix bugs we can find but most bugs are reported by players but they give very little information that we can use since they can't be bothered to follow the bug reporting template i wrote. Most bug reports we get in tickets are like " This and that is bugged .. fix it now" We need to pinpoint bugs and reproduce them to fix them. It's like looking for spelling errors in the 100,000,000 page textbook.. not easy by any account.

This isn't a retail games as such since you never had to buy the game. Try some searching info on other MMO's and you will see that PG is more complete on release than others.

That question cannot be answered for several reasons. First, which version do you speak of? PC-DOS, MS-DOS, QDOS, etc? Next, if you refer to DOS being the acronym for Disk Operating System, then the manufacturers of the first disk systems wrote it. I personally, off the top of my head, know that Square Four had a removable 10" disk drive out in 1974 which precedes all versions of any PC or MS DOS variant. IBM had the RAMAC 350 in 1956 which was a disk type drive and it had an associated operating system that IBM wrote for the 305 RAMAC computer. So I suppose, to be 100% technical, IBM wrote the first DOS in 1956 for their 305 RAMAC computer. ^^ ^^

Perhaps we should get back on topic now before the Keymaster shows up and tosses us all into the locked archives ...

Hats off to Chas88 ^^ :mrorange: ^^ Though he got the company right, The Disk Operating System or DOS did not actually come out till the Mid-80's. The RamDac systtem ran a variant of what is known today as Unix. An engineer on the IBM Team at the time was a Young William "Bill" Gates. The 1st MS-Dos came out @ 1987 for the IBM 8088 Processor (The 1st AT) but also part of the XT Class of systems as it had no internal Hard Drive in it, followed closely by the 8088 AT which had an Internal HD.

Thanks Astraeus, however I think you missed my point. By DOS=Disk Operating System, any system that had disk storage capabilities in fact had a disk operating system, thus logic would dictate that the first system with a disk storage device, the 305 RAMAC, in fact had a disk operating system, DOS, something that controlled the I/O to the disk, though it may not have actually been called DOS at that time. The mid 80's is even too late for standard DOS which I believe my Original IBM manual on DOS was copyrighted 1979. You are way off on your dates. My IBM 5531 Industrial that I got in 1983 was Intel 8088 based with an 8087 math coprocessor. I still have all the original manuals! The 8088 was a 16-bit internal, 8-bit external microprocessor that clocked at a whopping 4.77MHz. And that particulat computer DID had a hard drive -- a laughable 10MB!!!! With dual 5 1/4" floppy drives. Also had a whopping 256KB main memory stock, which I upgraded via an expansion card to the max of 640KB (at the time). This predates EMS/XMS memory and such since 640KB was the memory limit. This would later become the 'base' memory when EMS/XMS memery became available. The DOS had to be loaded into this base memory which then set up array tables that would create 'pointers' into higher memory for any TSRs or program segments that used the EMS/XMS. An upgrade in the IBM at that time required the flipping of DIP switches on the mainboard and daughter card to let the computer know how much memory was added. ^^ :mrorange:

P.S. I still have that IBM computer, though the hard drive has finally given out on me. I have two extra ISA 20MB hard drives to try to get it running again, although I CAN still boot from my DOS 3.11 floppy. Check out this wiki to confirm my dates.
