yeah i mean look at commerce central, technatoria and whatever else planet there is you have to fly at high altitude in (or in the case of technatoria, you're still in space technically, but same concept)..commerce central you can't even see the ground so like defacto said, what would stop you from flying around in jupiter, saturn, uranus at a high altitude so the gas pressure don't crush your ship like a tin can? ^^ ^^
EDIT: and also put some old burnt out gas collecting facilities in like defacto said, and have them with parts falling off, run down, destroyed by mantis attacks, or just plain old and falling apart. also like the idea of low visibility due to high concentrations of gas, then suddenly an enemy clan jumps out at you
could also put environmental hazards in like explosive gas pockets that would have a high risk factor of igniting near heavy weapons fire from pvp battles, to make it more interesting...put a ship right in the middle of the gas explosion and boom, heavy damage or instant pod. plus they couldn't be detected on the radar due to interference but they could be seen, to give the player a higher chance of survival.
building on the radar blindness, could also decrease the effectiveness of your radar screen, like range, accuracy, etc. due to sensor returns from the high gas concentrations, making the players rely more on visual aids than the radar.
