Okay, we've all heard the comments of "Why isn't there an area of effect collector?" or "The Devs really need to make an aoe collector!" but there has been no way to make one without decreasing the amount of people buying and using a membership, which the developers don't want that, do they? For them it would mean less profits if they did this, so they won't, unless there's an idea that they could use to keep this from happening but still be able to use the Area of Effect collector. I come to the forums to share this idea to possibly put it into the game, and here it is:
Say the Area of Effect collector had the same power as a normal collector, like, say, a Sol Salvager Collector and a Sol Salvager Area of Effect Collector. Now imagine what it would be like. You all are probably thinking "The Area of Effect collector will be a lot faster than the normal one because it'll collect a lot more at the same time with the same speed of the normal one for each item," but these thoughts are what keep the developers from making it, because it would obviously decrease membership use, and therefore profits. But what if the Area of Effect collector split the efficiency up between the items collected? It would save a little more time, though it wouldn't save as much as people might hope. To explain in further detail:
Normal Collector: 100% efficiency on one item.
Area of Effect Collector: 100% efficiency split up evenly onto each item.
The Area of Effect collector could be collecting, say, 5 items while the normal one would be collecting only one at a time, though the Area of Effect collector will still be faster. "How?" is probably what you're asking right now, so I'll explain.
The Area of Effect collector would split up the efficiency evenly between the items it is collecting, so if it were collecting 5 items, it would put 20% efficiency into each of those items until one was collected, and that 20% on that one item would be split up onto the other 4 items to make it 25% efficiency on each to further speed up the collection without resetting to slow the collection until the next is collected, which then splits up after collected to make it 33.3% on each of the 3 items until another is collected, and so on. A more simplified version for those I have confused:
5 items: 20% efficiency on each item
4 items: 25% efficiency on each item
3 items: 33.3% efficiency on each item
2 items: 50% efficiency on each item
1 item: 100% efficiency on the item
While most will think that this will slow down collection, it will truly speed it up because the collector won't have to reset itself or the collection progress that has already been completed on an item, therefore making the progress faster on all items when an item is collected, making the collection factor faster overall.
I've already suggested this game to a few people in-game and from all of them, I've gotten comments like "I really hope that makes it into the game!" and "If that makes it into the game, I'll help you get to Draconis/Sirius!!!" so I hope everyone else (and the developers especially) like this idea too!
Thanks for your time!
