I don't play much anymore, but ive heard alot of people complain about the XC alloy carriers and i think its for a good reason. apart from the fact that it genuinely seems like 70% of XCs are alloy carriers, those alloys are also just reused content if that makes sense, only this time you dont get the 3% buffs.

This is my opinion and idea but if you could make it so that the alloy drops more colours than blue red and green people might actually find a reason to kill the alloy carrier for actual new cosmetics. for example a purple alloy would look pretty cool especially on something like the Cormorant.

At the point people are either despawning them or just straight up killing them in order to spawn new XCs that arent alloy carriers.

Aside from that, I think the new update is pretty cool especially the trails which looked way better than I anticipated.

Thoughts?

The Alloy XC units do inflate the loot pool in a way that feels artificial mainly because there are so many ship variants (Raven alloy for all 3 variants, Antares alloys, methanoid alloys, ne0n alloys etc.

It's still very early days since the update and I like the Alloy Upgrades idea, just not in its current state. Suggestions to make the alloys more worthwhile to chase;

Color variety - I think everyone agrees the engine trails look really good and offer a lot of different customization options. Purple, orange, white, cyan etc for alloys would give that same level of customization.

Alloy affecting ship components - At the moment Ancient blasters, rockets and sb have intrinsic alloys corresponding to their system. For example, drac ancient blasters have an intrinsic blue alloy and sirius ancient blasters have an intrinsic green alloy that doesn't get changed when you install a new alloy - I would suggest the new alloys either apply to ship components, or have a separate drop specifically for alloy ship components so you can mix & match (e.g. white ship alloy with red ship components alloy on the same ship).

Alloys should install universally, not be system-specific - imo this is the most needed change to the alloy drops. Since it's a 1-time consumable installation, the alloy XC should drop a random color that can be universally applied to any ship. Again, similar to engine trails which you can put on any ship you want without system restrictions.
