This one has to be by far the most difficult, even close to impossible to complete. Players I've chatted with are complaining that there are too many mantis in the final part of the mission, and I agree. When all those rocketeers and commanders drop down, Admiral Hornblower heads straight into the middle of them, and no matter how we try, he always gets killed. I even tried making sure that we were outside the area when they land, but he still runs in and gets killed.

Some players have been trying that mission for 5 days now with no success. You can't really do it in a squad as more mantis drop, and of those who have completed it, most did it with a Parsec ship.

I can foresee that if players cannot advance in the missions so that they can get a Draconis ship, they will stop playing the game. Not everyone is as good at this game as say Razzorkill, but even he used a Parsec in this mission I think.

Or am I missing something about the mission that would make it easier to protect Hornblower? A squad of engis? Wouldn't work as they are weak in a fight. As for myself, I am finding the mission extremely frustrating having tried many times solo, and in squads.

Those who have finished the mission, how was it done? I'm at a loss myself.

I haven't done it but from what i know:

could a storm or sniper ab ahead of him with an eng escorting The Admiral and then the guy that abed ahead kill all the mantis before the Admiral arives?

and maby someone else escorts the eng and the Admiral to kill the normal mantis.

just the thoughts of someone who hasn't done the mission

Razzorkills parsec had delvuian armor, not methanoid that is the draconis armor,My point is that he completed with the armor of a sol ship not a draconis

I soloed that mission in a tank, there are way more less mantis in the end if you do it solo. ^^

Tyrannus, I saw u m8, u were just lucky the mantis didnt kill u or hornblower in time.
If the last wave commanders stun u, and if u are a shock or eng or storm, u have no chance to survive.
Tanks and snipers can survive the mantis because they have stronger armor

But anyway, what u need in this mission is LUCK!!!
I was almost done with it but hornblower die because of a BUG!!!

Well for some reason that doesnt work for me, because hornblower runs in the middle of the mantis and they gang him.

The problem is not with us, but with hornblower, he is too weak and stupid to fight the mantis

idk how I did that mission, was just luck of the draw I guess, hey it took an entire day, 24 hours of straight retrying though, got one time to 60% then it failed.

I never failed it till last wave. Then a m8 ( if youre reading this, thanks again) did it with me, and it got completed.

it is best done in a squad of 2 and what you got to do is take the aggro of all the mantis then draw them away from the village abit, plus dont use os or aggrobomb as this will kill the meta ships and fail the mission too

Ok, I managed to do it last night with the help of ianderek, and Warhammers ( both clan members ).

We worked out that once you have reached the second part, and are starting back up the slope to the last part, the one who Hornblower is following ab's up past the village to the plateu above, keeping on the right as maruaders are on the left and can draw Hornblower into a fight. Hornblower then follows that player over the mountains away from the village. So long as that player can limit the amount of trouble Hornblower gets into, the other 1 or 2 players then have time to take out the mantis one by one.

It is still difficult to do. You have to time the ab right or Hornblower will still turn around and fight the big ship and the mantis. I think we tried that 8 times before we were successful, and Hornblower stayed safely away from the village.

Of course, this tactic cannot be done solo, but it is possible in a squad of 2 or 3. Any more, and there would of course be more mantis.

Oh, and it helps that the one Hornblower is following is an engi.

I used a parsec with DELUVIAN same as sol ships, still I think its not that difficult, what you have to do is to use ab to spread em out from the signor and kill them off :)

Well back to mantis hive ^^
