Hello, I would like to discuss current state of chat system in this game; today I've seen 1 of my clan mates get a chat ban for saying something in public chat (GM didnt explicitly say what so neither can I). Now if it was malicious or directed towards someone then sanctioning them would be fine but instead of that they were chatting in clan chat and then got a bug causing chat switching to public. Being unable to leave public chat (which is often annoying) and having a bug that can get people banned simultaneously is a bad design and should be fixed instead of having GMs repeatedly say to open chat in a seperate window and drag it off screen, which isnt even a fix as it disables all chats and not just public. Regards, BB.

I'm really sorry to hear about this happening. Thing is though, regardless of the bug, if it violates the CoC and accidentally slips to Global, then we have to sanction it as it is still a CoC breach, even in other chats (Unless it's using different languages than the server language, as far as the CoC is concerned, that only applies to public chats, those being Global and GM-Chat). We always mention to open the chat and drag it, as it's the only true fix to the bug,

Highway on multiple occasions came out and said that the only way to fix the quick chat bug where it changes chats, requires a rewrite of the game due to how the chat system is coded, and the bug is not present when you open the chat up. I understand it is very frustrating, as majority of us players use quick chat over opening the chat window up, but there's just is no other possible fix for this issue sadly. :/

I´m one of those few pilots who never does that and this is only due the chat then always gives a short sound if anyone has posted anything in chat and if Global Chat has one of his "active moments" it can be pretty "noisy" if you constandly hear this sound (and i play the game always with active sound) so that i stay to the "normal Chat" version.

Aside from that doesn´t a sanction need a warning 1st before it actually happens or gives it really situations where a Chat ban is given instandly? Never had any Chat ban so far on my side but i find it a bit hard to belive that a chat ban directly happens without any warning from the GM before.

Can only speak for Askone but from the times i have seen something happening in global chat with an active GM around i have always seen the warning before the sanction actually happened.

The way we punish players is mostly staff information, but what I can tell you is that received punishments are different when a GM is present and when a player has been reported.
