Wreck instead of POD

I tought PG would look cooler if instead of POD's, ships would turn into wrecks, wreck stays for a time on the planet, but with wrecks the PG world would look creepier, scarier and more deadlier.

You still will be able to loot your cry out of a wreck, but you don't see the cry.

Wrecks look like clack/grey version of a ship with much damage. By ressurecting/materializing step for step, part by part will be health. And then it will go alive.

Intresting, cause the engineers are supposed to resurrect us, in a pod our ship is disappeared that means completely destroyed and when engies resurrect us a new ship comes out.. which makes it kinda unreal

Very nice idea - I support it 100%

The wreck shouldn't only be grey, it should really be torn apart too

OH I KNOW!

How about, an adaptation of your idea, you'd get teh pods at the end BUT when you get podded, instead of popping right there and then, why not explode into a fire ball breaking into lil pieces as you're carrying on in the direction you were flying. As you're crashing into the ground the pod comes out of the fireball, hits the ground and that itself carries on for a meter or two before stopping. AND AND AND! you can have it stuck in the ground at different angles and ways ya know? :D

You can play around with it too. Have the ships blow up in different ways, some gointo the fireball like I said and maybe other times they'll just make a huge explosion right there and then, or maybe even they can implode. and other times they can just fall into pieces whilst they hit teh ground, explode and the pod get released. Veriaty style and mayhem :D think about how all that would look in teh middle of a 50 player brawl on Cosmo or OB :)

but I want that earth is every corner of the map a wreck. That would be a pirate galaxy.

But if there is a wreck, that means you are dead, the pod is the help protect you!! And the engi's last button (the one that get your ship back) maybe should be called rebuild.

that would mean more lagg..

a pod is always the same animation with a different name above it..
so they can preload the pod picture in ur pc and just display when needed..
now if u have different wreck animations.. that would mean more to (pre)load..
pg is working within a shell that is a certain size.. <think ram n pagefile>
there is a maximum to this size if u want ppl with an avarage pc be able to play this.

so the coding will be difficult imo

good idea tho.. there have been many ideas on changing pods.. from small to big changes..
none ever came trhu.. i think that says some for itself..

but i hope in the future they can build more variation <on a small level like this idea> so the game looks more alive..

keep pushing the idea ^^ u'll never know

Wrecks wouldn't be too hard on less powerful computers, they'd just be another ship model which needs loaded, and there are already loads of different ships out there. The hardest part would be the flames/smoke/animations shown when the ship actually explodes.

well those explosions n ship states would have to be preloaded if u wanna keep data traffic down..
thats maybe 5 states of each ship.. so thats 5x more than it preloads now <on ships>..

ppl already have more lagg in new vega system <coz they are a lot of moving parts there now.. smoke etc>
so u might reconsider the thought that an average pc would be able to handle this easily.

Yes, some cool death animations would be cool, not only to have a wreck after you died...

I can think of the engine of a Behemoth exploding into a fiery orange sun... the pipes inside the ship bursting and sending away superheated plasma everywhere... and then, the ship slowly goes down to he surface... and finally, as it touches the ground, the whole thing goes off in a Ground-shaking explosion!

Then... when the dust has settled, only the scorched skeleton of the ship remains...

nicely put and in a downloadgame this would be easy to do..
but thats a lot of animation imo and what if 20 ppl do the same missions.. burning ghost benemoths everywhere ^^

Well if it is a ship from another mission it would be just like if you had low graphics settings, it only explodes.
