i think storm is best because most sm untill sol are ok with storm but it your choice m8, tanks can take more damage but storms have more firepower so you can kill your way out of trouble why not get both lol

Hi, it really depends on the System you are playing, there are different kind of missions in the systems, you might need, Engii for escort missions, as in Gemini, Storm if you need firepower, and tank if you got a planet ahead where you have hard enemys.

Shocks are handy in Vega and in Antares.
Gemini Engii
Mizar Tank or Storm
SOL R45, Storm, and R60 Storm or Tank, cause after SOL you will get to Draconis and Gazika,
the chosen R60 SOL ship is what you will have to work with there.
R70 aka Draco ship will only unlock for you when you are doing missions, 1 sm unlocks them, but yet would be very foolish to buy that ship and install any less tech than Top Hive tech on it or it would be a very silly waste of hard worked and earned cry.

So chose wisely your R60 SOL ship, you will need to survive in it, in Gazika, and even in Hive for to grind top tech there for ur Draco ship.

Likewise after when you are ready to purchase your Draco ship, it's unlocked, you have lvl 70, and you have cry for all armor, and then for items what are extremely expensive on Draco. (More grinding).
Remember that is the ship you will use in Sirius, so watch carefully what ship you will get, as you will not have a Sirius ship to buy when you enter that hard system.
The absolute best Draco ships to survive in Sirius is:

Tank
Defender
Storm

Snipers are super paperships, you will depend of others to keep u alive the whole time, in order so in a squad no one else gets medic cares of squad engii if there is a sniper cause the hp will be down the whole time, and a Stunner you really need to know how to fly 110%

Then of course there is the Parsecs, you can purchase BPs for some for ~100K Gold, then u still need to buy it in the shop for almost 700k, + install all armors, guys we are talking about multi millions here, many days, week, and maybe months of grinding. Are you ready for that, of course you will get faster if you buy Boosters with gold, otherwise it will be a very long time process.

The best way to choose a ship is that you will investigate what is the next system after, and what is the best ship you can survive in, also in this game you need to work very very hard to earn Cryonite, and that means you will mostly need a ship with lots of firepower for to be able to grind.

Storm, and Sniper is the best ship for grinding, and believe me, that is what you will do the most time of your playing time, grind and hard work.

For sirius, I agree with starchaser. However, snipers are great for all previous systems when looking for rare blueprints, or grinding cryonite. If you plan on getting fast-tracked through all the systems by clanmates, then definitely chose a tank for drac/sirius. However, most players I know who do that end up buying a sniper to grind/help other clanmates in previous systems.
So overall, if you think you will get helped to sirius, and don't intend on revisiting past systems to hunt for rares, then by all means, buy a tank. If you think you'll want to revisit old systems, then consider a sniper - or storm.
