Hi,

I don't understand why the aggrobomb takes sooo long to cool down compared to an orbital strike.
Also, it seems to me that a sirius strong aggrobomb is weaker than a sirius strong orbital strike; why isn't the bomb stronger since you need to wait so long for it.

Can you please decrease the time it takes for the aggrobomb -- it is ridicul0us. :frown:

Thank you for reading this -- I just needed to vent a bit. It would be nice if what I said was looked into. ;)

Have a pleasant day! :)

I can say with a certainty that the aggro-bomb's cool down is not an accident.
The point of a tank is to force aggro on to them and divert the damage to the tank while the other players(presumably in a squadron) destroy that enemy. This is why the taunt is so effective on this ship. The aggro-bomb has saved my squadrons many times; as they get inundated with mantis, I run it and hit it and they all focus on my tank while my Aim Scrambler saves me from dying while my squadron gets away from danger or completes what they needed to do.

I digress. In short: The aggro-bomb's primary purpose wasn't as a weapon, but more as a way for you to get groups of enemies attention all at once. I fly a tank and do wish the cool down would be less, but I think it's fair enough, especially since it times up perfectly with Giza and Anubis mine laying.

Starchaser54, you cannot simply wish the Aggrobomb to be made better. Think about it first. It's all a question of balance and the devs were putting lots of thought into this. The Aggrobomb is a Tank weapon, the OS is a Sniper weapon. Tank has much more armor and therefore less weapon power, Sniper has much more weapon power but a paper thin armor. Even so, the OS has a delay so u can escape, the Aggrbomb is instant damage.
Change your ship class if you dislike the Aggrobomb. But you can't ask for the best of all worlds ;)

Cheers

I fly several ships with aggrobombs, and I agree with the points made here especially about the Giza mines. I don't think the cooldowns should change, but i do think it would be more useful if it did more damage. Even if it wasnt intended to be a "weapon" but just something to pull aggro from many things at once, it's hard for that to be achieved if everyone else's weapons/AOE's are significantly stronger, pulling more aggro than the aggrobomb.

For example, a sirius ancient OS typically does more damage than a sirius ancient aggrobomb. So if a tank and a myst are killing something with equal blasters and the myst OS's, unless the tanks aggrobomb criticals, the main aggro will stay with the myst in most cases. If they boosted aggrobomb damage to make it more equal to (or maybe slightly stronger) the average hit of other AOEs it would be more effective as far as pulling aggro as well as general damage.

All very interesting comments.

I must agree with the last comment in that you can't take away aggro from another if the bomb isn't strong enough. Alternately if you can fire it off more often to create more damage so that you get the aggro form others.

As far as it not being a weapon there are some that only have a tank ship and must use it as a weapon when they are grinding solo (not my case but I have seen it).

As far as asking for the best of both worlds -- we can always ask. :)

Many thanks for the responses -- they are all good and valid.
