Game Update June 19, 2018

Between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM UTC+2, the game servers will shut down for a new game update to be deployed.

Changelog for the "Tau Ceti Part 1" Update

NEW FEATURES

  • Rebooted the Tau Ceti star system with lots of new content!
    • This update is the first of four parts that are planned for the Tau Ceti system.
    • Added eight new story missions to planet Vénar in the Tau Ceti system. In addition to this, the four story missions that comprised the first of two episodic content packs that represented the Tau Ceti system until today, have been made available again as well.
    • Added ~130 "white" missions to planet Vénar in the Tau Ceti system.
    • Added a line of completely new spaceships, three of which are available in this update:
      • Added the ne0n-1 Humpback.
      • Added the ne0n-5 Thunderbird.
      • Added the ne0n-7 Hawkmoth.
    • The ne0n line of ships also comes with a set of new items, three of which are in this update:
      • Added the "Damage Inverter" item that converts incoming damage into healing.
      • Added the "Lightning Chain" item that can zap up to seven enemy units, depending on how close they are to the target enemy.
      • Added the "Corruption Cloud" item that reduces the outgoing damage of the target enemy unit as well as adjacent units.
    • Added story/white mission achievements for Vénar.
    • Added standard blueprint collector achievement for Vénar.
    • Added PvP achievements for the new ship types.
    • Increased the maximum player rank to 88. The maximum rank will increase further with each upcoming part of the Tau Ceti update.
    • Introduced encrypted blueprints.
      • Blueprints found in the Tau Ceti system need to be decrypted before the corresponding items and ships can be built.
      • Decryption is enabled through collecting other blueprints, i.e. you may need to collect a Sirius Ancient Blaster blueprint in order to decrypt a Tau Ceti one.
      • Blueprints of rare items found in Antares to Sirius (except "Ancient Sirius" items) now also need to be decrypted through collecting previous systems' Rares. This change was introduced to increase the overall value of Rares for the player.
  • Added a "low health" warning sound that triggers as soon as the player's health reaches 25%.
  • In order to improve graphics performance, enemy units that belong to other players' missions are now completely hidden from sight—except when they engange in combat with a player.
  • Added a new sound option to the settings menu: "Music only"

IMPROVEMENTS

  • The surface of Planet Vénar has had a substantial overhaul for the new Tau Ceti content.
  • Planet Vénar features a completely new soundtrack by artist Michael Schnorbach! Crank up the volume and enjoy!
  • The first four original Tau Ceti story missions that can now be played again have been completely rebalanced.
  • Added the number of collected/required blueprint parts to the scanner window.
  • Made improvements to text loading speed for PCs with low graphics capabilities.
  • Adjusted the graphical effect of area-of-effect items (e.g. Attack/Repair Fields and Turrets) to accurately represent the item's area of effect.
  • The conquest item "Speed Actuator Field" now has a unique graphical effect.
  • Improved robustness of network code when rematerializing; this should minimize a number of associated glitches.
  • Extensive general server-side improvements for increased robustness and stability at runtime.
  • Fixed the Punisher 3D model's weapon attachments so Blasters & Rockets now show properly.
  • Reworked the Emperor 3D model's Sniper attachment to avoid intersections with very large weapons.
  • Adjusted all variants of Ancient Perforators so they align better with the new Tau Ceti items, resulting in a 10% decrease in effectiveness.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed an exploitable issue that enabled generating large numbers of Warscore when pitting ships with certain technology levels against one another in Pirate Mode.
  • Fixed an exploitable issue that enabled the misuse of Speed Actuator items for slowing down targets' items.
  • Fixed a number of bugs and exploits in existing Tau Ceti and Tau Ceti Prologue story missions.
  • A certain rare Mantis unit that could appear on Vénar was sent home to Draconis.
  • Fixed an issue that caused blueprints of conquest ships and select drones to be displayed as being of "unknown type" in the pilot profile's blueprint list.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the names of squadrons to be interpreted as translatable internal game text.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the "empty drone slot" UI element to appear in an incorrect position in the HUD.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause Citrine Gravitons to provide health to the Graviton user instead of reducing incoming damage.
  • Fixed an issue that caused players' ships to accelerate when the logout timer prompt was canceled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the health bars in the squad window to not reflect the use of Beryl Gravitons.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause items to be listed in the shop more than once.
  • Fixed a graphical issue where a player's ladder rank icon would remain visible in the scanner HUD even when that player was not selected any more.
  • Fixed a rare issue where the entire item bar in the HUD could become unresponsive.
  • Fixed a potentially performance-degrading server issue related to jump ship data storage.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Repair Droids, Target Repairs, Repair Fields, Shields, Protectors and Speed Actuators to apply PvP logic to PvE fights. These item types now have their old behavior (previous to the PvP Overhaul update in March 2017) restored.

Missed a new feature in today's changelog:

NEW FEATURES

  • Added a tech level restriction to planets in the Sirius system: You now need to enter Sirius with both level 70 ships and items in order to be able to land.

Another improvement was missing from the changelog (sorry for that):

IMPROVEMENTS

  • You can no longer gain Warscore from shooting enemies that are 15 or more levels below your highest current equipment level (ship and items).
