HO HO HO All!!
I have mentioned this before but no one seems to listen so I will try to explain it again....
LAG is an issue that EVERYONE is starting to complain about, not just a few here and there but across the board! Yes, many things can and do affect LAG which is nothing more than a delayed response to instructions given, however WHEN it increases suddenly there is usually a common cause!
So what can this common cause be?? Oh, I wonder hmmmm????? Let's ask ourselves a question then... What has happened recently that maybe be related to this issue??
Hmmmmmm.....
Well maybe it has something to do with all those players getting banned recently for cheating?? From that Split Screen have tried to install a system to detect the methods used by them and now apply it to everyone in the game.... and suddenly we all start getting LAG issues!!
HELLO!!! Can't you see the POSSIBLE CONNECTION here??????
When I worked in the military as a technician I was taught something called the "Half Split rule", it goes something like this..
When you get a fault (lag) you first do three things;
1) Check the input,
2) Check the output and then;
3) Check the half way point and work from there.
This is a simple technique that works in all areas not just electrical. Also when finding faults you need to take into consideration what was happening at the time of the occurrence. Having fault found thousands of electrical faults in my life I suggest you try the following - anything NEW is usually the main culprit!!
If things are working ok, and then you get a lot of players banned (for cheating), then new security measures are put into place to prevent the cheating for the future, and LAG issues start to occur.... the answer is SIMPLE! It is the new security measures. The question you need to ask yourself is how to prove it? The answer is TURN IT OFF and see!!
Programs run via an intruction set, the more instructions the more calculations are used to get the end result. So if you introduce more "instruction checks on every player as they do something in game then the MORE bandwidth is used for those instructions to be processes... leading to the higher possibilty of LAG.
The recent lag is due to something you are doing to "inform us" that a cheat is detected and to stop using it. If that is all the new security measures do then you better remove it now as it is useless. It is lagging the game to a level that is becoming ANNOYING to play! ESPECIALLY if we actually spend MONEY to make the our game experience better!
Players are starting to feel as though they are targets and the new security measures are making them feel like they are cheaters when they KNOW they are NOT! I find is most unprofessional that a developer of any game makes their CLIENT base (their OWN source of INCOME!!!), feel guilty of cheating!
Before you go INSTALLING security measure make sure they WORK as intended and DON'T test it on us making us feel like a guilty party when we are NOT! Games are meant to be FUN!! They are not meant to make us feel as though we are guilty of something we are not and I sure DO NOT want to be a guinea pig in your testing of ways to detect cheaters.
I suggest you REMOVE your new security measures and go back to the old way of detection .. relying on players to "observe odd things" or impossible things about other players and then report it.
Why not TEST my theory and turn your security for cheat checking OFF to see if there are changes?
