D: I apologize for the ridiculously long post below this, but if this is going to have any chance of being seriously considered, I have to be very thorough. If you liked the title, please, take a moment to read on, and leave a comment ^_^ You don't even have to answer the questions at the end if you don't want to.

Now yes, I realize that this idea might be a little out there, but think about it.
What if, for a week every once in a blue moon, PG were to suddenly hold a concept-art contest among players?
Lets think about this. Users with digital artwork programs could submit concept art for potential ships, enemies, bosses (if you can call them that) etc.
Issues: The creator's pride:
Folks, believe me, I know. It's hard to resist making your creation "THE ULTIMATE"
or "THE MOST POWERFUL DESTRUCTIVE INVINCIBLE MACHINE"...yeaaaaaahh.
But really. Don't do that. xD It's a pain.
Issue 2: Selection:
Now we have to realize that not every ship, etc, for a given contest is going to be within
the range of the uber expensive ships. We have to be reasonable if this idea does indeed
travel for some distance. We won't always be making the most kick-a** thing in the
Pirate Galaxy Universe. Indeed, at times we will have to bank more on the side of
adhering to the general genre in which Pirate galaxy ships are made. We can't just make
anything... it has to fall within what one would associate with this game.
(For example, no flying ships that resemble barney in cuteness, etc. That is DEFINATELY
not going to make the cut)
What this means, is that if this idea ever gets any attention then you might find yourself
having to hold back a little. Admittably, the higher a level it is in this game, the more
generally epic it seems to look.
For Example: things like the space tank and war-hawk do look nice...
but they don't look 650,000 cryonite nice. Get the idea?
So instead of designing one's brains out, creating the most epic thing that comes to
mind, sometimes, those whom would participate would have to... excercise a certain
level of restraint?
And to PM, yes, I realize that you probably have concept artists. In which case,
you could always make this an event... one that wouldn't lead to an influx of annoyed
players demanding to know why a server isn't working.
Or at least, it wouldn't do so immediately xD
The update that followed might require a few shots. I don't know. That's why I've
created the questions at the end, so I can better understand the dynamics.
(Don't take that the wrong way. I'm not blamin yeh. I'm just stating an observation
supported by all of the issues that popped up when I punched "Server" and "Solaria"
into the search engine the other day... It just seems to be a tricky fix to play with
the coding! Trickier, say, than it is for other such games? I can understand why.)
The winner could be awarded the ship they create, and it could show up in the shop.
You don't even need to throw gold into the mix.
It's a mechanism that can only do you well. So what do you say? Do we have an idea?
In addition, should you ever add a section or an area to the Pirate Galaxies universe,
You could always ask the users to create an idea for a new mantis.
1) Is this practical?
2) Does this idea have any support over there?
3) Chances are people will just say "it's a noob trying to do something big" Heck. They're probably right.
Is that the way this comes across?
4) Is there any chance that this could actually happen at some point?
5) Is this impossible because it biases against folks who don't have the software to create digital artwork?
I didn't intend for such to be the case, but it kinda is. Does this null it out from being considered?
6) And for a final question...
Does anybody actually check this, or is it just where we are directed to place such idea's so that they
don't get in the way of the immediate things that occur? xD If past experience is anything to go by,
most people wont even give such a thing consideration. If that's the case, well, hey, I tried. ^^
7?) I know I said final question at 6). 7) is for your opinion on this, as per will it work?
Do you like it as an
idea?
Why and why not?
Basically, give me some feedback. Let me know if I'm overstepping any unsung boundaries in
suggesting this, if you know what said boundaries are. I'm not trying to cause any trouble.

Users, What do you think? Feel free to post your thoughts. Support is as welcome as Criticism.
If need ever be, I suppose I could throw an image up here to display the sort of thing I'm talking about.
However, I shall only do so if asked to, as although I possess the necessary programs, this is tedious.
Therefore, I shan't put anything up unless it'll accomplish something, or clarify.
