Yesterday, a long time clan member quit the game, sold all his ships, spent his gold on donating log files, and donated all his cryo to the clan. The reason he left the game is that he was so dissapointed that the ships and tech that he had worked so hard to acquire had been made much less effective. He had enough gold already in his account to renew his membership when it expired but chose to completely quit the game specifically because ships he worked very hard for have been made far less capable.
I don't know if players leaving the game over this is widespread or not, but I do know that many players are unhappy about it.
I'm not throwing rocks at the developers here. This game is a for profit business and I assume that the developers feel that the changes they have made in the game will result in increased revenues. But when paying customers choose to quit the game because of the changes you have made, perhaps it might be worthwhile to reconsider what you have done.
I think that the Sirius Adjustments part 2 is potentially good for the game and may increase player activity in Sirius, but again, making tech and ships less effective was counterproductive and unnecessary.
There are only a few clans active in Sirius now and I see very little activity in the lower systems. Lower system players now face far more difficulty and drudgery now than they did before. Tech is harder to obtain now and they have to do it with much of their tech being less effective due to changes in strength and active/cooldown times. Additionally, the impediment of not being able to put armor on their ships when they reach a new system is problematic.
I think that if you restore our tech and armor, implement sirius adjustments 2, build Tau Ceti, and come up with some way to make the game more enjoyable for lower system players, you will hit a home run and increase your player base, and your revenues.
