well no you can watch any dvd you have bought as many times as you like in your own home but show it in public without permission and you can be sued, same applys here with the term "star wars" or "droid" but for another company to use it to make profit is trademark breaking, but we as people can say it out loud or use refrence too it as much as we like, but i really dont think the word droid is trademarked

They have copyrite over a title not a word. They sued the other company for titling their home page 'The Droid Homepage' which is in violation (Technically) for marketting their android prouct as 'droid' which is very clearly not theirs to do so with.
In this case SS are using the word itself, which doesn't as far as I'm aware break any copyrite laws what so ever. EG.
Repair Droid
Attack Droid... add any others I may have missed ect...

Whatever

this topic is beyond ridiculous. george lucas cannot trademark the word droid because it's derivative from word "android" which originates much before george lucas came out of his mom's uterus yet alone when star wars was first filmed:

The Android phone had to buy rights to use the word Droid. Its been copy righted for sometime. So its valid to a point... weather or not they would ever presue it is another story.

It suck royally don't get me wrong. But pettier things have happened in the world of law
