Remnants are coming
Game Update July 1, 2026
Around 7 AM UTC (09:00 CEST), game servers will restart for a game update to be deployed.
This update represents a big part of the endgame mechanic that we announced in the Golden Skull Update Dev Shack.
You will finally be able to face interesting new Remnant carrier ships that may surprise you with a dynamic and unique experience each time you encounter one of them. The first rewards they are providing are the new Tau Ceti skill items. Later on, more rewards will be added, such as the anticipated 9th slot etc.
Here is a rough flowchart on how to unlock and play the new content:

Unlock Endgame With New "Strange Readings" Story Mission
We added a new story mission to Erebos orbit which, once completed, unlocks the new endgame.
Completing the new story mission will grant your pilot access to a new tab in the right side panel called "Remnants".

These new and exciting units can appear on any story planet across all star systems (not in Sirius).

Remnant Carrier Rewards

New Blueprint Type "Remnant Blueprints"
This new kind of blueprint has a distinctive behavior: Remnant blueprints are consumed on construction!
Remnant Skill Items
On defeat, Remnant Carriers will drop blueprints for a new set of skill items.
Attack Droid Rework
Spaceball: Booster Substitution at Halftime!

Game Update July 1, 2026

The first rewards they are providing are the new Tau Ceti skill items. Later on, more rewards will be added, such as the anticipated 9th slot etc.
Here is a rough flowchart on how to unlock and play the new content:

Unlock Endgame With New "Strange Readings" Story Mission
We added a new story mission to Erebos orbit which, once completed, unlocks the new endgame.
- The mission must be flown solo, and it shouldn't be taken too lightly (aka don't fly Phoenix S).
- The Oort story mission "Faceoff" must be completed before the new mission becomes available.
Completing the new story mission will grant your pilot access to a new tab in the right side panel called "Remnants".

- The Remnants panel lists all known "Remnant Carrier" units together with the time when they appeared, as well as bits of intel on where to find them, and what kind of item they are carrying.
- These intel bits become available eventually through time, one after the other: Star system, Item type, Planet, Status (once found and engaged).
- There is one exception: When a Remnant Carrier is found and engaged by a pilot, any unrevealed intel of that unit becomes available right away.
- Intel updates are broadcast as global messages, so you do not need to keep the panel open to get informed about updates.
- If you don't want to stay updated on Remnant Carriers for some time, you can mute Remnants update messages via checkbox in the lower left ot the panel.
- Even with all their intel revealed, carrier units still need to be found on the planet surface.
- Remnant Carriers may announce themselves in different subtle ways, so keep an eye out for anything unusual.
- There is a new mission "Join the Hunt for Remnants" available in each story mission's orbit that you need to accept in order to be able to see and interact with carrier units.
- You need to have Pirate Mode enabled for accepting this mission.
These new and exciting units can appear on any story planet across all star systems (not in Sirius).

- Remnant Carrier fights can feel quite different from one another, as units are equipped differently and "know" different tricks. They are even capable of a few things that pilots aren't…
- Units that seem to be particularly tough are highlighted as such in the Intelligence Panel.
- Once they have been engaged by a pilot, carrier units will attempt to leave the planet once they go out of combat; a 15-minute countdown timer indicating the time of leaving will show right next to the unit in the Intelligence Panel.
- The 15-minute timer resets every time the unit resumes combat.
- When carriers listed on the Intelligence Panel are defeated or manage to leave the planet, new ones will spawn to fill the list again; respawn can take 5-30 minutes.
- Blueprints selected for drops will rotate properly like in Sirius to ensure that every blueprint becomes available eventually.
- Carriers will not auto-repair when going out of combat.
- Any effort made by pilots for units that do not auto-repair will not be reset when it goes out of combat inbetween, or when pilots die during combat etc.
Remnant Carrier Rewards

New Blueprint Type "Remnant Blueprints"
This new kind of blueprint has a distinctive behavior: Remnant blueprints are consumed on construction!
- Remnant blueprints require a certain Skull Level to be constructed.
- Excess blueprint parts can be collected for Remnant blueprints, up to the equivalent of five complete blueprints per item. These are visualized in the form of a small golden counter next to the usual collection status.
- Example: You have four parts of a blueprint that requires five parts, and then collect another one? Then the collection status will change from (4/5) to (0/5) ×1.
- A display of e.g. (5/5) ×5 signals that no further parts for this blueprint can be stored; if another part was collected in this situation, it would be converted into energy.
Remnant Skill Items
On defeat, Remnant Carriers will drop blueprints for a new set of skill items.
- Remnant items are comparable to Ancient items in term of effectiveness (about ~18% more effective than regular items of same rank), and are also available in three variants each (except Collector and Perforator).
- The new Remnant blueprints require pilots to fulfill a certain Skull Level in order to be constructed. The required Skull Level varies between items.
- Added achievement tracks for defeating Remnant Carriers, divided by unit type and system.
- Added achievements for collecting Remnant skill items for each variant.
- Since carrier units can be tough, a new drop mechanic was added to make sure that multiple attacking pilots are appropriately rewarded for the effort they made.
- The updated drop mechanics also apply to Sirius bosses Giza, Amarna and Soris, as well as a few other enemies.
- This will speed up the progress/increase drop chance heavily when playing with multiple players.
- The drop mechanic is also used for cryonite, not just blueprints.
Attack Droid Rework
- Attack Droid will now always spawn two droids.
- Attack Droids now have a landing animation, delaying their first action; this allows for counter measures.
- When invoked, they copy the player's own target as their first primary target.
- That selected target will not change until it is defeated or not valid anymore.
- Generally they stay on the target they have picked and not switch from one to another based on effort.
- Increased vision and movement ranges, but reduced HP.
- Rebalanced projectile speed of Rocket and Blaster variants (strong: slower projectile speed, rapid: faster projectile speed)
- This does not affect DPS nor shot accuracy, but shots will reach their target sooner/later than before.
- Changed VFX effect of Rockets for Ancient variants.
- Changed VFX and SFX of Blasters for Ancient variants.
- Changed VFX effect of Sniper Blasters for Ancient variants.
- Added new visuals and sounds for the new Remnant items
- Many of new ship visuals for the carriers and meshes for the new Remnant items. (thx to @StickManTwit)
- Upgraded the Scanner:
- Now shows the name of items as well, not just ship names.
- Now displays information on the collection status of blueprints:
- Shows the name of blueprint parts before collecting them; when a blueprint is completed, the name is displayed in gold.
- Also, a set of icons shows right away that the selected completed blueprint would be converted into energy when collected.
- In Scan Details, you can see the complete collection status of the scanned blueprint.
- Rank is also shown.
- Shows the name of blueprint parts before collecting them; when a blueprint is completed, the name is displayed in gold.
- 3D view of the scanner item will move depending on the view of the camera towards the target. Non-spaceship objects will rotate in place.
- AI-controlled enemy units will no longer update their primary taget too quickly. A new target must first do more than 10% of effort compared to the current primary target before it becomes the new primary target.
- Fixed that the armor size did not properly get reflected in the internal size for calculation for combat distance. This caused attacking ships to fly too close to the player ships.
- Fixed that cryonite was dropped by Attack Droids.
- The game now allows Pirate mode players to land on all Sol story planets with Sol tech.
Spaceball: Booster Substitution at Halftime!
- For the remainder of the event, global boosters will be changed to Energy+ and Cryonite+.
