Relative Steering Mode: Add "Stop/Hover" to "S" Key

I'll reserve comments regarding the new steering system for another time. Prior to February 10, 2011 and after the new steering system was put in place, the "S" key did a really wonderful thing in Relative Steering Mode--it actually stopped the ship in place when moving/targeting. Then, on the 10th, the "S" key stopped functioning, again, in Relative Steering Mode. Did anyone else notice this?

After going back-and-forth with Support and GMs, it was made clear to me that a hotfix was applied around the same time. Fix? Hardly! I do not think that I was successful in sharing with Support exactly why I felt this functionality was useful, and not for lack of trying...LoL So, let me take a stab here:

When this was working, I could hold the 'S' key while repeatedly hitting TARGET ROTATE (TAB) and this would allow me to remain stationary while queuing multiple targets to attack, thus allowing me to avoid having my ship inadvertently relocated to a nearby area where I might get targeted by additional nearby mobs before I was ready to engage them. For example: I would attack a Harvester. When the Interceptors (thx AFA! :)) appeared, I could hold the 'S' key to keep my ship stationary while rotating targets. Thus, I would kill the first Interceptor, hit TAB while holding the 'S' key to target the next Interceptor, then attack the second Interceptor while remaining stationary....rinse, spit, repeat (lol).

I wish I could show someone in-game just how cool this was, but, well... Anyway, I hope this gets some serious consideration! :D

yeah, i have told ss so many times to place a stop function, they keep ignoring it, and the key is a real sollution for the old steering with hover then the new old steering.

Uh... Eliminators are only on Axiom and Lyris, Harvesters aren't.

You mean Interceptors, right?

Back on topic, this is a pretty good idea, but I use the arrow keys so the down arrow key should be exactly the same.

Oops, LoL, yep quite right--Interceptors they were! Haven't tried arrow keys because I'm right-handed and have little room on my desk to move the keyboard over enough to comfortably play that way. However, I will give it a try. If down-arrow works like this, then we'll know that there really isn't any reason the "S" key can't mirror this function.

I'm right-handed too, along with some of the population of the world, and I don't have any problem with the arrow keys.

This is WRONG TOPIC!!!!

Post suggestions in SUGGESTIONS!!!
Really Adrana? SHOUTING? If I had noticed the sub-topic at the top of the "Bugs & Suggestions" page do you not think I would have posted it there myself? A proper hierarchal topic structure would have placed "Bugs" as a sub-topic as well. Since I did not notice this at first glance I naturally assumed I had posted the topic correctly--AN HONEST MISTAKE! Really, a PM would have sufficed quite nicely. If this was done for others' benefit as well as my own, well...who's going to see it now except for those who have already come to the right place? Now, with the topic having been properly moved to the correct sub-topic, your post only goes to distract and degrade what I feel to be a mostly viable discussion.

Having said that, I do appreciate that you took the time to properly categorize this for me.

LoL...well I, and I'm sure everyone else, are quite happy for you! Still doesn't change my desktop situation one bit. By the way, you DID get that the "right-handed" comment was offered tongue-in-cheek, right? :mrorange:
