Rare mantis

Hello,
What does a rare mantis look like? And what can you do with it? I heard you can get a rare color patern from it.

Hello, a rare mantis can be any mantis what is seen in the proper system. It is bigger than the usual ones, but also stronger, and it has a Pink shine, when you see one you'll know it is one.

They drop Rare paint Patterns, like Eg rare Avenger Paint or so in a Golden BP, but they can also not drop anything, or drop a nice amount of cry.

No it was some GM's making the 'Rare' Mantis not as rare as they should have been lol. So now they are spawned by the system

I know that when a rare mantis spawns a message comes up saying "rumors of a rare mantis spotted on planet"

my question is, how close do you have to be to recieve that message, on the planet only, in orbit, in the star system? it used to be in the star system when GMs dropped them, i remember the hectic flight patterns once the message aired. it was like the airport.

I have only seen the message while on the planet involved. I believe that is the only time you will receive such notification. It would be nice if there was some sound effect to go with it though as I have missed the message on occasion.

In response to Adrana's comment on what they drop, I believe that it was mentioned in the news a while back (when the change occurred) that all rare mantis will drop a gold bp when destroyed. So, although the rare mantis are now rarer at least you are guaranteed a nice new colour pattern should you be lucky enough to pop one (and see the message of course )
