Start things off by saying I've played my fair share of MMORPGs out there, and my fair share of space MMOs aswell. This one has to take the cake for a few reasons:
It's all done in Java. I didn't even think something that ran this smooth, looked this nice, and was this in-depth would be possible in Java. Kudos. Massive amounts of kudos, internets, everything.
I'm not sure if this is "Full Release" or some type of beta, but if this is indeed full release, this game definitely takes the cake in that the item shop isn't entirely rigged to give payers a huge advantage, that's a huge plus. That keeps the fine line of Balance nice and sturdy, where it should be, without faltering.
The gameplay is absolutely astonishing for what it is, and especially for what it's programmed in. It's smooth, there are some odd things here and there, but for the most part it's absolutely smooth. Dynamic music per planet, and each planet even has its own battle music. That's just phenomenal in my eyes.
The ship designs range from Simplistic to Complex, and that variety is even more appealing. Each ship having it's own pros and cons.
Gameplay seems to be dependant on skill rather than, "Who can sit here and spam the living crap out of _KillUDed_ macro", even though it does have those moments; it's an RPG, it needs them sometimes, right? The "Leveling" is great. From what I've seen, I'm not 100% sure if your level depends on how much damage you deal to things, but it seems to me it depends more on your weapons. That, I like. It also isn't a complete grindfest(aside from Energy sometimes, and maybe if you want all the BPs you can find per system.)
This game really outdoes itself, it's definitely out-of-the-box for what it runs on. As I said, I'd of never imagined a game like this being able to run on Java. Out of every MMORPG and every "Space" MMORPG I've played, this one is my favorite.
To the devs, I seriously congratulate all of you. This game is absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work, and keep thinking outside the box for this.
This game's success should be an example to every free MMORPG out there that they don't need to sell-out with crazy premium items to be successful.
Definitely a 10/10 in my books.
(On a side note, Just keep the item shop the way it is. It's a lot less intimidating to people who can't exactly pay for those crazy "Rip you a new-one" items.)
