Pirate mode is the skull at the upper center of the screen. It is the pvp activator.
Anyone with a red name over their head has pirate mode on.
Not everyone with the mode on will attack you! Some people use it for EXP purposes. (extra 5% from mantis)
If killed by another player in the starting ship, you will drop nothing.

If killed in any ship past that, you will lose a fair amount of cryo. The amount dropped increases with the cost of the ship, if what I've read so far is correct.

I'll confirm on this later if I can. (CONFIRMED)

Other folks supposedly can't see whatever cryo you drop, thus it serves only as a way for you to get it back?
Or so they say... I'll confirm this later too if I can. (CONFIRMED)

The point? There wasn't a thread by this name. Now there is. I hope it was helpful. :mrorange:

Update!: Question: Do you lose your ship if you're using one above the starting one?
UPDATE! - Answer: No

Do you lose Cryo? Answer: Yes.
How much?: If you're using the beginning ship, the light transport, you lose absolutely nothing.
Anything past that, and you'll be losing light figures. No real worries... least not till sol xD

^_^ Keep in mind, this page is still a work in progress! Though the end has been posted, other questions are still welcome, and will be answered.
This post was updated following several posts below it, which elaborated on many things, such that visitors to this page wouldn't have to page-sift for their answers. Enjoy!

Special thanks to the answer-ee's. You've saved us newbs a great deal of frustration ^_^

As Defacto keenly noted:
KEEP IN MIND. When YOU turn on PM, YOU assume the risks. That guy with the sol ship and the rare sol gun? Yeah. He can and will own you to high hell. "Red is dead" as they say. Just an FYI.
Don't go shouting at someone for being a jerk if they're within the laws of the game. That's uncalled for.
And well... it's your own fault. Pirate mode is supposed to be for pvp! 5% exp bonus? FWEH! :)

See Datajam's post to make you feel better now :D It's about having fun, mmkay?

_ _ _ _

If you flame up at a player over such a podding of your immortal soul, the rest will tell you what I just did.

Enjoy the game! :D Happy hunting... I hope? xD Idk.

I know I am pretty new so don't laugh at my question, but you don't lose the ship right if you have something above the starter one, just more cryo right?

I'm actually still looking for the answer to that. :D Great question btw. I don't know!
Seems a bit brutal of one to do that though eh? I don't think they'd make ya lose ur ship.

no you will not lose your ship just cry depending on ship past starter i have only killed 5 people that were in pvp but i don't stay in pvp all the time only if i got the urge to fight someone in pvp but if you do go into pirate mode make sure you keep a good supply of energy and also pay more attention to players around you. even if they are not in pirate mode they may go pirate because they want to destroy you and make you lose some cry.

Thanks. Now I don't have to worry about losing my ship, besides if I die who cares, it is probably my own fault anyway if I let my guard down... lol.

:) And with that, this page was a full success. ^_^ Hope it'll help someone some day.

I'm throwing this out there with the intention of it bringing this topic more or less to an end for now.
HOWEVER:

1) If anyone has any questions that this thread has failed to answer, please post them. ^_^
2) If anyone requires clarification on this, please ask. ^_^

Closed Until another question should arise (or rather, I'd intend it to be so)
And thanks to all who helped to clarify on this ^_^ I'm sure many will find it quite helpful.

Hey, Let me Help you Out With this Pirate Mode Issue . . .

If you fly around with Pirate Mode enabled, you will sooner or later get podded. If you do not pay SS for Crystal Protection, you will drop your crystal at the rate determined by SS to be dropped. Nobody else can see your cry drop so you can return to the drop location and recover a percentage of your loss. If I recall, SS keeps a little of your loss as their bonus for you getting killed. So, you do not recover all your loss.

Now, why can you count on the eventual podding if you chose to fly around with Pirate Mode enabled? It is simple, PM is for PVP. If you are red, it is like telling the other players that you are not afraid of them, regardless of whom they may be. Or, it is a way of sticking your tongue out at other players daring them to try to take you on, much like myself in my constant display of disregard for the FBA clan who turn off their PM promptly when I or any of my clan enters the same area they are in. You see, I do not dislike any of these other players . . . I just want them to play the game as it is intended to be played. Pg is intended to be a PVP, Clan War, Conquest, and combative game. That is part of the excitement of the game. Nobody is supposed to get their feelings hurt or their ego bruised, but we are supposed to play the game. Nobody truly cares who wins the battles, so long as the battles happen.

And PG has been drawn to the edge of boredom because players do not understand this. If you are on Vega 4 and some clown like myself lands in his SOL Ship with PM on, gather a bunch of your fellow players and attack his butt. Who cares if you win or not? You will be amazed how much fun you can have while losing a battle with fellow players. And, if you win . . . It's an even bigger kick.

PM is meant for one thing . . . PVP battles. Go enjoy one today!

Always remember that pm is for pvp not xp. I often attack pm for red reds, and they run around in circles, then scream at me when they pod... it is noobish behavior.

Defacto would be right however. I'll add a blurb noting that they do indeed assume the risks.
Provided that I haven't already.

Update:
By the way Godman, your spelling is actually quite a bit better than most of what I've seen. :D
That applies to in-game, and out. :) Kudos.
