Ok, I know this is about a mission most of you have finished, but me and my friend want some help with the mission - basicly some advice. my friend has a tank ship, and I do too, but with all the mantis, we tanks still die twice (each) after about 8-9 of the turrets. time is too short as well - last time we only got to the 7th turret before the time was up - all i'm asking for is some advice. the main problem seems to be the A.M. bombs don't want to be selected - and they don't show up as a target on the target panel! anyone have some good advice as an expirianced player? if anyone can meet me as well, I play on solaria, username is skipman, and my friend is spinrak - i'll be playing in an hour.

thanks,
skipman

Simple, if you have 2 persons on squad, another one should first pass turret with normal speed (ab away when too much damage coming) and other person use shall TAB button until he gets bomb as a target to scan.

Swith roles on every turret so you can go nonstop on them.

First off, I would like to tell you I was in a similar situation.
By using two people, you cut your time down to finish the task. The best way to finish this is to split into two teams, one taking the top half, and the other taking the bottom half. If you have any Green(Beryl) or Yellow(Citrine) gravitons , it would be helpful.

The way I did it, and succeeded, was to press my afterburner close enough to the turret, but before the enemy sees you, and then stop directly or as close as you can to the turret for about 1 second, and then to continue in the direction toward the next turret. Using your Aim scrambler will help minimize the damage. Try to find a safe spot and allow your afterburner to recharge, and continue the same. If you get about 1/2 damage, use your shield. When your shield drops, use your repair droid and when you find a safe spot allow this to recharge.

Use your yellow graviton(Citrine) only in situations where you are stunned. I only use the green one if almost all hope is lost in a last ditch effort to get to a safe spot if my afterburner is just about ready to use again.

When this is all said and done, and all bombs are planted(It will tell you, and you can also check the map, hover the red dots and it should read "A.M. Bomb" and not "Unknown") you should go to orbit, land, and then press the TAB button repeatedly(but slowly enough to catch it) until you see on the bottom left of your HUD the device called "A.M." Bomb(not Unknown). Press the E button, and then again each time you see this. should blow up. Keep repeatedly with the TAB and then E when you see A.M. Bomb, you should blow up all 16 in the LZ away from Mantis, and hopefully with time to spare.

Your other option is to find a pilot with a good engineer willing to help you in this mission.

Good luck brave pilot.

I would say that this mission is best done solo, that way less mantis will be guarding the turrets. (2 rocketeers and 2 marauders if I recall correctly). I did it in an engineer myself and had no problem with the time or the mantis guarding the turrets. What I did was hover on the turret with protector on and manually select the bombs. I know they are small and pretty hard to select, but I found this less time consuming than pressing tab until they appeared. After the bombs explode, use your ab to go away. It should be the same in a tank. Try to learn the ds paths so you know what to expect. If they cause you trouble, see if you can get someone else to clean up the outside mantis.

I have done this mission solo in my gem storm. However, for a new pilot you might want to squad with a engy, or perhaps a tank. The other solutions above are close... but it is easier if you do exactly as instructed below... I guarantee this method:

Just before you get to each turret... turn on your rep droid... then go slowly (even stopping briefly) just over the turret and once you are just past the turret ab to a safe spot. The reason for this is so that you don't take as much damage with the rep droid going, and once you are over the turret you ab to safety and wait for cool downs. Your squad mate can tab to target the bomb and scan it after you get over the turret. (You can also have an engy put a protect or target on you just before you get to each turret too)

It is important that you wait in a safe spot after EACH one for your REP and AB to come back. Even with 2 people in the squad you will still have sufficient time to complete the mission. While you wait, (if you are doing this solo) you can tab to get the bomb targeted and then scan it to detonate it.
(However, as you tab... your ship will want to move each time so keep it stationary by the arrow keys or aswd. That way you don't start moving in the direction each time you target something new while looking for the bomb)

To sum it up....
*Press Rep droid just before you get to the turret
*Go slowly over turret, then ab to safety once you get past the turret
*Tab to bomb and scan
*Wait for cooldowns EACH time and then repeat.

well, Mission complete! I accually didn't know about the "tab" select targets. My friend pointed it out, and I soloed the mission wiht about 10 mins to spare. And this is the setup of my tank at the time:

Fusion tempest blaster
dual fusion collector
proton repair droid
dual fusion AB
(best sheild - forgot name)
nothing
nothing
Fusion Power aggrobomb

I easily soloed the next mission (I mean it - I even managed to get back in time so save the vendetta :!: ) and finished the entire mission (it was a bit hard - but easier than project detonation!)

lession learned - use my joystick for missions!

As an afterthought, i'm in mizar now with a tank with the best everything exept collector and taunt :D

As another afterthought, My friend is in your clan ON_ur_SYX - and he's always ahead of me - might want to join it some time. IF I'm ever allowed to have teamspeak . . . . .
