Did you know the lag on this game is getting worse? Day by day, I'm serious it is, it's annoying... I can't go one whole fight without the game lagging out on me and freezing up for about 5 - 10 seconds and sometimes even freezing up completely making me have to restart the game. There's nothing wrong with my computer, my internet is for the most part fine and fully capable of supporting PG for a good long while. So don't tell me it's my flamin' compie please. It's Java... THAT'S the problem, cuz it can't keep up with you useless problem injucing updates/game patches. Alot of the time when you update the game Java has to update as well before it'll work properly for me. DO YOU KNOW HOW IRRITATING THAT IS? A lot of you probably do but apparently the devs don't take Java into account so maybe they don't.

I cleared out my Browsing history and cookies, defragged the disk and did a disk clean on it, with VERY marginal improvement... It's Java and PG just not communiicating right cuz you're not taking it into account when you're updating the game... or at least that's how it seems since it happens every other game patch.

OK I'm done now buh bye...

No it's not that, I've checked it, it gets a little warm but it's NOT hot and if it gets that way I do use a fan.
Apologies to SS and teh GMs and FMs if I seemed a little less than poilte in that rant of mine, I wasn't happy ^.^ So I ranted.

But serious I'm pritty sure Java is causing a large part of teh lag in this game. The reason I think this is because when Java updates for me PG work pritty much withouta hitch, at least for me. Once you update the game again though the performance goes right down the drain. So I'm pritty sure it Java being out of synch with the PG updates even if only partly.

I have the same issue since the last JAVAW update, but only on a particular NW connection.
First minutes PG works fine, then LAG starts (FPS drops to 1 or 2). After restart, alway's same issue, but on my regular NW connection i don't have it.

So, probably it's the JAVA cache that cannot handle bad frames coming thrue the NW connection.

Is there anybody that have the IP adres of the Solaria Server so i can clear this out?

Upon testing with some other pilots & various PC configurations & operating systems, I have found some PCs actually interact with PG much better using Java version 6.18. If you feel you have Java Issues try rolling back to 6.18 but be sure to completely uninstall 6.23 first.

I am still testing on this theory so if you do decide to roll back Java, Please let me Know Results

Ok, i downgraded the JAVA 6.23 to 6.18 and the diference in playing (on a bad connection ;-) is amazing.
In my technical opinion this is what happening:

On Java 6.23 the video frames are only showed on screen when completely loaded and put them in a cache when not completed. This is why i (sometimes) see a DS flying by on top speed, mantis stop moving while you can target and shoot it without seeing the results. This is also why you can be in a POD while the health is still over halfway, etc ...

On Java 6.18 the bad video frames are droped, so you don't see them, connection looks more stable and therefore playing experience is better then with the other version.

Atention! This will not solve all LAG issues but improves only playing when you have a slow or bad internet connection.

Another link for downloading Java 6.18 : http://www.accuratefiles.com/go/10243313603

Based on the above suggestions, I did the same - though you have to have a program that unlocks archived files - you can find one easily enough on the internet.
Once I unlocked it and loaded it up, the difference between playing with the latest Java and 6.18 was amazing. FAR less locking up and sitting in the hanger repairing at 85% damage.
Thanks to the brilliant pilots who know far more than I and are willing to share it.
