Picture this, if u will:
Youve lost one bar of health, u dont need whole repair droid duration, you activate repair droid, when health is full, you right-click on the repair droid button, and repair droid deactivates. it recharges from where the little bar things, that go down when an item is being used, got down to.
I think that it could be useful. ive sometimes activated repair droid to repair a little health and then had to wait for it to be used up and recharged. it would be so much better if u could turn it off once uve been repaired. im not just thinking about the repair droid, but everything that lasts for a while, eg. protector, repair feild, aim computer, sheild....... you get what i mean. Hopefully :S .

Whaddyall think :D ?

uhhhh

just no. You thought this through?

Im pvping someone. I activate my rep droid for 1 sec then deactivate it, then reactivate it and, hey presto, im invincible.

Also, lets say I want to fire rockets. I fire them and as soon as ive fired I deactivate. Then I can spam rockets to my heats content.

You are forgetting that stuff fires at the begginning of the cooldown and not the end lol.

Its jsut for the items that are activated for a long time. i wouldnt want weapons to be included in here. that would just be retarded (like me) but things like repair droids, protectors, sheilds. NO WEAPONS AT ALL!!!!!! and i think aggro beacons are weapons of a sort, so maybe not them.

And lance, it wouldnt work that way. the repair droid would recharge at the same rate as it does now. so u wouldnt be invincible.

having it how it is right now meens you must think before you press and not just decide to top off your health. now, if they made some abilities turn on and off at a click(or press) and not have a timer and use energy over time then i wouldn't complain.

ps: all my ships i use are engioneers

They would still wear down like they currently do, but u could turn them off if necesary. ive sometimes hit protector in engii, and its been totally wasted cause it hasnt been shot at, so deactivating it would mean it wouldnt be a wasted use, and would recharge sooner.

yes you would be invincible, The repair droid is not a continuous repair, it goes up, then stops, then goes up ( if you know what I mean) You get an initial boost at the beggining of activation, which you could spam and have a continuous rep droid. You wouldnt be "Invincible" But it would make the majority of pvps endless.

ok i cannot see how it would work like that. how fast does ur repair droid recharge? it takes several times longer to recharge than it does to run its full course. please enlighten me as to how u would be invincible cause i cant see how u would be :) and also, its not just for repair droid.

Avtivate and deactivate half a second later. The droid doesn't repair slowly, it repairs in quick jumps.

I think that this wouldn't be a bad idea but there should be a cooldown time even if you deactivated the repair droid (like half way), just so people don't over use it in a pvp and become invincible.

No. The repair is strategy-ish...
I agree with defacto, though there is no ish on the end of my statement. It is strategy. Repair droids are not a fix after battle implement, they're a fix during battle item. Good use and timing not only can keep you alive, but it can restore you to full health just at the end of the battle, just before it runs out of operating time. Besides, the energy used isn't that much, and neither is the time it takes to recover. In instances you're describing, I would just go into battle with that little damage.

There would be a cooldown, but it would be from where the item got to. The lines that go down when an item is activated, where they get to when the item is deactivated, is where they recharge from.

Then it should be a longer cooldown, like dowblu the time it would actually take if u deactivate the item, so people wont become invinsible.
