Heres reason for you lags and freezings. Playing game with that low bandwidth surely will not work well because game needs little bit more, after all its online realtime multiplayer game.
You can verify this with trying other games with multiplayer modes, if they lag or simply wont work, then its surely about your low speed internet connection...
