how is "time played" calculated

Hi,
How is "time played" calculated?
Does it just count the days from which you first started or does it look at the "on-line" time?
I believe it is "on-line" time but I want to verify before I send a ticket.

it's online time.

It should be also calculated on your pod, orbit, surface time, for me it should be an chat time haha!
