Game Fails to run on Windows 10 machine

I recently upgraded my laptop (and my new one has windows 10). I used to run PG on my desktop, which had 8.1 and ran PG with no issues. I get the "Java Platform SE Binary has stopped working" about 5 seconds after launching. Notably, it worked before just 3 weeks ago. Only changes made: newer graphics driver, general settings changes (not entirely sure how that could have caused the issue, but I've been attempting some ways og fixing it anyway.)

Every other java program I have tried to run has ran perfectly, so I'm not sure what the issue is. I got java 8 151, and here are my system specs:
(Alienware 13 r3 machine, if that helps)
I7 7700hq
16gb ram
gtx 1060 6gb (mobile)
Windows 10
256 gb NVME ssd (installed on there)
1 tb m.2 ssd mx300
2560x1440 touch screen
(not sure if it goes here, but it uses nvidia optimus. Every issue up till now has been an optimus issue, so I might expect the same here.)

Not entirely sure if half of this is even remotely useful, but I figure I might as well put everything that could remotely be an issue. Not a huge deal (I'm more interested in other games nowadays anyway) but I just kind of confused that this laptop would have issues with this game in particular, when it runs even some pretty old java games fine (and crashes in such a fast manner).

Again, being on the edge with newer tech, I expected some compatibility issues.

Thanks for any response (also, I legit have no clue if this goes here, but I wanted to post something somewhere. I literally could not find a bug reporting forum or anything, so I figure it might as well go here.)

notably, a similar computer with windows 10 and a 1080 has no issue (my friend's).

I would say I made sure my computer met the specs for this game . . . but I then failed to find any, except for on a site that has not been updated in years, and also lists windows 7 as the newest supported. If this is still the case, I stand corrected, this game was not supposed to run on windows 10 in the first place. Just wanted to give the heads up for the devs on this one, as I may or may not have found yet ANOTHER unique problem with this darn computer and games. I am a little frustrated to say the least lol.

I'll leave this thread up because hilarious things, but I found a BIZARRE fix. I ran it in compatibility mode for 98/ME. XP didn't work (all three service packs), and 95 DID launch, with SEVERE lag. However, 98/ME runs perfectly. I would ask why, but I think this is beyond the point of bizarre issues here. If anyone else has issues, maybe this is a fix. I don't know ? I honestly don't know what caused the issue in the first place, so your guess is as good as mine. Feel free to lock this if you want to, as I self-fixed the issue. Yes, this was the first thing I tried after posting the first post.

Did you download java 8 separately from java.com?

The game download already includes a java 8 runtime in the game folder. Any related java issue with standard installation should be tracked there. Try deleting the JVM folder in game folder (%appdata%/Splitscreen Studios/Pirate Galaxy) and rerun the game with no compatibility mode enabled.
Maybe the issue is due to an incorrect installation of that included runtime. If you installed java by your own from the official site, then more likely you have a newer version that should fix any problem.

BTW, the correct channel for these reports is at http://support.splitscreenstudios.com
Notice they will be on holidays from dec 21st to january 1st
Regards.
