The past 3 weeks there has been pilots exploiting missions for warscore. And its not normal story missions either its so called travel story missions.
To Draconis story mission which gives most warscore for completing it; 1200. This mission can be done every two minutes of gameplay. From earth to stargate and back for repeat.
Now the system was based on killing mantis for warscore not exploiting story missions....
And when you barely get warscore from mantis and huge amount from doing missions like that you dont have any choice but exploiting yourself if you want to win the ladder or go up a division. Please fix this, why encourage people to exploit sms for warscore?
I have been constantly shooting mantis and done a few story missions on hive, and got myself 28k warscore in two days. I have been online for about 10 hours. And then I see 1 pilot comes on for 3-4 hours doing the story mission called "To Draconis" and getting 128k warscore within those hours. Now where is the logic? 10 hours shooting mantis for 28k and 4 hours exploiting sm for 128k... I thought the system was based on killing most mantis; grinding..
There is absolutely no honor in winning a gold skull when you exploit it to win, but we cant blaim the players either when it is splitsscreens fault for doing this. So please make it back to the old warscore system and remove warscore from completing missions, or lower them so much you dont earn enough warscore to exploit it to win.

Here is a screenshot of the recent ladder from my own division:

I never really understood the point of the warscore system, what actually happens when you get those gold skulls?

And by the way, I can see my name in the chat log. ^^

Razzorkill,
I have completely given up anything to do with the ladder system, divisions, and warscore.

Prior to the new system I knew that when I was competing for a place on the ladder my position was based on number and rank of kills. If I ended in the top ten I knew that it was a reflection of my skill in game play. The very best I'd ended was level 7 on the ladder - competing against the known PG "tigers" and higher levels like Howlin Wolf, Obbin, Old Viking, Gregn.. I felt a real sense of achievement. I consistently ended up in the top 20 - and knew that if I just kept at it; there was a real possibility that some day I may win a gold skull.

When the new achievement system was implemented I was placed in the entry division. Huh??? :sneaky: Why!!

It was because a huge amount of ordinary blue print missions that I had already done - now appeared uncompleted! And that meant they had to be done over. So, I spent a extraordinary amount of time and methodically began replaying missions starting in the lower systems. I redid all the Vega missions. Then I went back to Anteres, Gemini, Mizar.. Finally I threw in the towel. I thought, what's the point spending hours and hours doing blueprint missions? .... Missions that I had already done - for blueprints that I already had?

And I started to do the slayer missions and pondered... What does it mean if i kill 1000 Reprogrubs or 500 Pyros? It means I have a big gun. Taking the Sol ship to Lustra I offered all bps to anyone who wanted to squad up with me and then vaporized every mantis that came within range. So what? To what end? I woke up when I realized how much time I wasted that could be better spent advancing to higher systems within the game.

You know what's funny? I never moved out of the entry division. And to add insult - every week my warscore was indeed greater than many, many, pilots who are in higher ranked divisions in the ladder. To this day - my kills in PM don't register half of the time.

Yet, I no matter what I did, I never moved up in divisions or on the ladder.... and also to this day - at rank 72 - I am still in the entry division. Ha. Ha. Ha.

What a joke!
But the joke's on me.

I refuse to exploit the story missions for warscore as many pilots have done in order to artificially inflate my warscore - I don't blame anyone for doing so. But currently, it's pointless to compete unless I am willing the same.

I don't mean to point a finger and tell anyone that they are doing anything wrong, nor rebuke them for merely using the system as it set up to their best advantage.

My point is - warscore and ranking divisions have been rendered meaningless.

My advice is to forget about warscore and ranking until it becomes once more a reflection of skill in game-play instead.

I don't see a point in the new system. Since SMs give war score thats how people are getting over 100,000 in a day.

I've noticed latly mantis don't seem to give as much war score as they used to... I could be mistaken but it looks like it...

I agree mostly with everything said here, and as for the go to (whatever) system missions I think the warscor for those should be 0 cuz you're only trvelling in space init. The warscore you get from killing mantis randomly is next to nothing, even in draconis I get next to nothing in terms of warscore. I have however used some Story missions to advance my warscore which went hand in hand with the fact I was bored looking for cry anyhow.I don't think the warscore is necesaily bad but what you get for completing the mission should reflect the difficulty of it. I did the mars missions and got 1- 2,000 warscore. Average difficulty missions.

I totally agree with Razzorkill and Ct. Currently warscore/achievements are pointless. Warscore is made even more frusrtating by how it is determined. Like you Ct I am R70+ and still in the entry league. Am I bothered. No. 150K+ kills to my name and over 950 missions completed should count for something in the game but clearly it doesn't in the grand scheme of things (although I personally am satisfied).

We are told that the achievements/warscore system is beta testing at the moment. Is any effort being made to address the issue? or will it be a case of "just leave it as it is and eventually the players will live with it"?

Incidentally, I would leave the mission exploit for warscore in place and award those who achieve highest scores using it with a gold hyperspace badge. How desperately sad some players must be to spend days continually doing this mission just to "achieve" something (the only achievement being in deluding themselves that jumping planets involves anything warlike).

On that note I am off to apply to the government for a medal because I once thought about joining the army. And maybe the IOC will award me Olympic gold for watching the opening and closing ceremonies (2 even :D )

OMG StrontiumDog,

Your closing remarks were just about the funniest thing I've ever read on the forum. Sad but true.

Still laughing!

I did test it and did see that in 3 hour u might get about 70k warscore from the sm to draconis if u had membership, it's also a sm named to hive ship and give 500 warscore each time...
