Okay I Tried To Keep My Mouth Shut,
This last update has stripped the Engineer of all usefullness and caused serious impact to player interaction. I believe this is a serious mistake.
First of all, the Engineer is useless in its own system. It is not capable of defending itself in its own system. Now, the Eng is unable to work backwards into the lower systems. This renders the Eng nothing more than a liability to any pilot stupid enough to buy one.
One of the coolest things about this game is the player interaction where senior players with their bigger ships come down and grind, BP hunt, or help lower system players progress. This is a fundamental interaction in the game. You may believe you are fixing a bug that lets players get up easier in the game, but it is a much larger impact to player interaction. You cannot create such an adverse impact to player interaction and be fair to the game. The impact these changes have on game play are enormous. The impact to player interaction is more severe. The impact to player interaction within the clans is devistated by this change. Clanmates helping each other is limited too much, and stops the interaction between players necessary to the bonding between clanmates. If your clanmates cannot help you, what good is a clan. And, do not suggest that same tech works, because it doesn't.
Everybody in the game that started the game prior to yesterday, had the ability to get a helping hand from a senior player. Changing this interaction changes the game so severly that the new player no longer gets to play the same game any of the rest of us has. That coupled with extremely ridiculous cry and BP drop rates leaves the poor noob an extremely long and tedious game compared to the fun we all have enjoyed. This is a serious issue that SS needs to re-evaluate. Love for this game has a direct relation to enjoyment of game play. SS needs to recognize the lazy factor for players. We all want a challenge in a game. None of us want to be subjected to non-stop attempts at going nowhwere while our peers did not have to do so. Most games you can tell who the good players but the progress of the player through the ranks. Not in this game though. The noob player is not playing anywhere near the same game that the Draconis Pilot has played. Planets, missions, cry and Bp drops, e usage, and now player interaction have created a much different game. SS has taken a lot of fun away from the new player. This is unfair to the noob, damaging to the game, and offensive to many senior players. And, may adversly effect population growth of the game. I know I am enjoying the game less by it, and I can only imagine how the noob feels.
I seriously request SS re-evaluate these changes. And, I don't mean the GM's. Somebody take this into Gus and let him see it for his consideration because right now there are a whole lot of folks unhappy with what used to be one of the best games ever played.
