Disclaimer for reps

This covers 3 issues i have encountered in my first week
This is not requesting help for the mentioned errors
This is not detailing a issue for the purpose of help
This is related to my other two posts, but only as reference points
I have tried my hardest, to not name names, except the helpful reassuring rep, or lead to the identity of any individual, if you feel an identity is obvious in some way, please edit it, it is not my intention to publicly name anyone.
If you wish to have help ticket replys, or rep communications forwarded for information purposes notify me.

Compliment

Its a great game you guys have made, epic, its just about the answer to so many freelancers desire for a MMO. I've only been playing less than a week but its awesome, and the incentive to spend money on membership grows every day. The fact that not paying for membership doesn't cripple me... Genius

However.

I suggest you find those links in your game code error boxes that point to the forum.

When a player is abused for following your directions and your internal links from error dialogs, it ruins the experience.

I did like the link under help to take me to the slipstream help utility, (With my first encountered server issue)

I did not know Pirate galaxy was/is Splitscreen. (To be fair, during the signup process it may have mentioned the information, i have a vague recollection) maybe a pirate galaxy reference on slipstream ticket webpage before signup and login?

I Did not find a "server error" specific reporting method, and in troubleshooter the server specific help dead ends. (Maybe remove the server troubleshooting reference or change the solution to "Create a ticket we need to know")

I was also a bit thrown that following the ticket creating link lead me to login to a server, that would not accept my username/password for pirate galaxy. (I spent ages trying to figure out if it was the correct company. before i wanted to submit my details)

Sign Up was easy, and once in, it became apparent that it was a system for pirate galaxy (The dot dialog Box)

Finding the (once again nicely located) forum link in game following it, and asking a question was answered with a nicely worded and informative reply from

Astraeus
English Community Manager

Which was great... until the reply to my ticket arrived in mail

Stating a issue (not working server for many hours) is "Low priority" and closing the ticket. This took away the positive attitude i had gained from "Astraeus" forum reply, and the one liner was a stark contrast.

In fairness, later i found a post explaining this behavior and it made more sense, but as a new player, wondering weather or not to invest my money in this great game, with no background with the game, or how the internal communication works, it was initially incredibly frustrating, if the server wasn't fixed almost immediately after i got the one line response, i can tell you now, i probably wouldn't have logged back onto the game, To be fair, i feel it would have been my loss, so im glad the server was restarted immediately after i received the 1 line help ticket response.

The second "Help error" i have found in my 5 days of play is when i get an error dialog box, it tells me to goto forums, and provides me with a helpful link, this link lead to the forum's as i anticipated, i searched the forum i landed in, to see if the issue was within the forum, it wasn't.

I proceeded to post my issue, in the forum i was linked to via the game clients error box.

Please bear in mind at this stage, that although i know of the ticket submitting process, i am following a game client dialogs instructions, the error box gives me specific information about the error, it was my firm belief, it was a known issue, probably caused by my hardware, as such, i assumed the "FAQ" for this specific error was probably located within the forums.

This resulted in a quick response which was polite, contained helpful information, followed by a statement indicating my post was in the wrong area.

This communication was then followed up by telling me i was breaking forum rules by multi posting identical issues. I obviously don't wont to post public details, if you wish i can privately give the communication.

This communication by a representative left me no wiser as to what i did wrong by following the link provided in the "Game client error dialog"

This communication left me feeling wrongly accused and judged.

Further research by myself, found that some time ago, the game had a forum based help system, this help system it appears was removed, I dont know if this was a week ago or 10 years ago, but i would have anticipated, your forum representative, instead of making accusations, would have followed up on what linked me to the incorrect area, I would have expected to be "helped/told" to inform you of the issue with the in game links.

All of this second issue would be fixed by changing the link address to your ticket system instead of the forum's, if the changeover is new, (forum to ticket) i would expect understanding or redirect links in the forum's, If the changeover is old, you simply appear to have missed some dialog box link's

Great Help system once all information is known

Easy useful links everywhere, some are just outdated.

Forum representatives should (in my view) attempt to ascertain an issue, and actually read a post, before accusing new members of things. I understand, many posts limited time. But if you don't read it properly, don't abuse and accuse members.

These are some of the things I have noticed over the past few years and i havent really cared because I knew where to go for help anyway ^^
That said, this is very useful as I didnt realize how much stock new player like yourself put in the quality of the help system (in this case, it is a maze)
Also, watch your mouth with the GMs! They volunteer their time and we players have been very whiny as of late. Imagine how you would feel if you had to wade through a few hundred depressing rants a day.
I know I wouldn't able to STAND that. Also, GMs are, in this case, the hand that presses the ban button. PROTECT THE HAND AT ALL COSTS! Biting it will get you.....banned. :devilish:

lol, thanks for the advice, and comments, but in the words of spider mans dead uncle.

With great power comes great responsibility, They need to treat us with the respect they desire. :)

With that in mind the representative i was speaking of did apologize to me. And my post meant no disrespect to anyone, rep or not, was simply an outline of my not so flash experience.

Also, my second listed ticket issue, got a reply which was much more informative, and more helpful in all regards from my first ticket.

The second ticket was also imediatly closed, HOWEVER, It informed me this was part of the process and by replying to the mail, the ticket would re-open.

I have to say the second time thru the system was a significantly less painful experience.

To add another compliment, I have only once before now had a community manager who responds with such haste. That's a very nice touch.

can something be done about getting help for the game when needed. You are doing a mission, in my case and my friends, usually nights USA ASKONE server 9pm and on. If we have a problem there is never anyone on to ask or get help and if it happens at a friday night that means the weekend of not playing because you cannot finish a mission. This last patch fixed a mission that failed at 50% and now another bug for trade enabler that makes it fail at retrofit for ship you escorted. Nice game and have fun playing it but having to do the same mission 2-5 times befotre you realize it is a bug makes me want to go looking elsewhere to play a game that works! Thanks for listening!!!!

Now if the bugs weren't bad enough when trying to log into ASKONE server it says you do not have an account there and choose a name. This mess started off with mission bugs quiting at 50%..2 in a row now you cannot play as it tells you no account? It getting so you cannot find a game that isn't full of hackers or cheaters like my last game of 3yrs and now this where you find a game you like but cannot play!!!!!

paljr, this game is not like those you are describing, it is not full of hackers, nor cheaters.

Have you reported your problem filing a proper bug report with all details requested?

If you are playing by browser, try to download the client, it is far more better to play with.
If you play with the client, try the repair tool, or then try to first uninstall the client you have, restart your computer, and Install it again from the SS website.

Is your game/graphic cards up to date, and Java engine?

Try to do the Java medic test on the website, I have the link on my sig, but it is also on the Bug Report thread.

Then if that doesn't help, file the bug report ticket, include the Java medic report as well.

I said my LAST game was ful of cheaters and hackers..and is becoming hard to find a game you like that doesn't have its' problems. Please do not put words in my mouth I went thru this with BIG POINT and DARK ORBIT thats why I am getting away from it. I did test and found no errors..I have an ALIENWARE AURORA 6gb ddr3 memory and nvidia 240gts graphics card which plays BLACK PROPHECY without a hitch. Something is keeping me from logging on and it is not on my end..I use both browser and client and same result..cannot log on and only to find a level1 pal_jr not my level 32 paljr account ..so any more suggestions I can try..I am open to them all!!!!!!!!!!!! :LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

So far I uninstalled the client and reinstalled it all to no avail..account still says level 1 pal_jr not my level 32 paljr account..all my players, java , flash, shockwave etc. are checked daily and all are updated. This all started with missions on Gemini quitting at 50%. Then trade enabler bugged out and when I tried to log back in found this problem and am unable to play my level 32 account for @4 days. I sent in a bug report and have not heard from support for a few days so there must be a big problem as I read others have the same problem. I also had this problem with another game from this site BLACK PROPHECY which had a bad server problem. Could not log into the game for 4 days due to a server problem.

paljr, probably they didn't reply cause they were working on the fixes for several bugged missions. :D

ok here is what i received from support you have a level 1 splitscreen account and a level 32 gamigo account..log into play? I waited 4 days to have them say I have 2 accounts/ I know but why is the level 6 at gamigos now and my level 32 still unaccessible supposidly at the same portal?

..almost everytime you are at starbase and have to close by task manager along with my account problems this is a great start to a new game. I won't ask for an encore because I don't think this game can top the problems I have encountered in a short twoweeks I have been playing but if this is any intro to the game sad that it is what it is!! :sneaky: :x

There has been some issues regarding hung entry, exit from hangers, star maps, planets etc for no apparent reason. Some players are affected and some are not. It seems when you click to go from one area to another the game freezes. One post claimed it was due to outside server issues, thus nothing really to do with PG itself.

I guess it will eventually be sorted out. Your account issue is most odd though. Maybe if you are having such issues with the new accounts, it may be easier to just start again. However, I feel I must encourage you read the posts about Sirius and also read how it is different from all the other 6 systems. You may well like the first 6 systems format and not like Sirius at all (like many players are finding). I don't want you to make a mistake in playing this game for ages following one type of game play you enjoy, only to have it busted totally open with the last update of Sirius.

You have been warned! :eek:

Got the account back last nite and was helped by a few players so deleted my last post and thanks to all who answered with answers..took awhile but am pleased with the outcome
