Fellow pirates,
Thank you for your patience. We are sorry it took a bit longer to go through all your awesome ideas and questions–thanks to your observations, we also could tend to fixing a few bugs on the way. Taking the opportunity to hear you out on your ideas and questions has proven every bit as worthwhile as we expected it to be, and we really hope we can give something back–so here we go:
We heard that some of the developers moved to a company called Innogames. Does this mean that Splitscreen will close?
- Changes in staff structure are of course a common thing during a company’s life over the years. While some teams may downsize temporarily, it does not change the fact that we continue working on Pirate Galaxy.
While our current development process is not as quick as we would like it to be, we believe we made the right move by increasing our focus for upcoming updates on community choices and wants. In order to streamline the development process for new features (e.g. Tau Ceti), we needed to reduce the effort we put into new events.
Why does Splitscreen Studios (the developers) not communicate with us?
We are sorry it feels this way because it means we are doing something wrong.
Please keep in mind that the GMs are quite close to the developers; they do such a great job in passing on your ideas and suggestions that we seldom feel the need to get involved in direct discussion in the forums ourselves. Thanks to the GM team, the developers can spend more time on the actual development of new features.
We hope it has not gone unnoticed that we are trying to include more and more ideas and improvements that you, the community, came up with. With your help we want to create a Tau Ceti that you will actually enjoy.
So we are actually listening all the time, but we could probably improve upon our presence, show that we really are around.
What can we expect from Tau Ceti and when will it arrive?
We are still finalizing the design for Tau Ceti using your input to get it right this time. There will be new ships and items for Tau Ceti. Sirius equipment will be essential for acquiring and building Tau Ceti equipment.
Tau Ceti will combine the traits of a traditional star system with new gameplay elements. The existing Tau Ceti story episodes will be overhauled, made replayable and be integrated into a linear story mission structure. We might not be able to satisfy everyone’s individual wants,
but we are trying
The first part of “New Tau Ceti” is planned to be released this year.
Do you plan to adjust the PvP/Conquest system to make it more accessible for players?
- Yes! We really would like to improve upon it because we love PvP!
You gave us some great ideas that are already being evaluated for their possible inclusion in the game. The removal of Cryonite loss in PvP for example is a simple but great way for achieving penalty‐free PvP fun. We might present you with a feature outline before implementing it so we can incorporate as much feedback from you as possible into the final feature.
- The Ancient Giza on ring 5 is the only type of spaceship that can drop Sirius ship blueprints. When a new Ancient planet is created, all Ancient Giza on that planet receive a randomly selected set of three blueprints until the planet is destroyed.
These three blueprints are chosen from quite a big range of blueprints, so chances are relatively small that a specific BP is contained in the selection.
We do not see a reason for the Myst to be especially rare, we double‐checked both code and templates and could not spot any hidden “Don’t drop a Myst” mechanics However, we will try to
adjust how the above BP selection works in order to increase blueprint variety.
- Only towards the end of Sirius the Ancient ships can be obtained. So when they are fully armored they are actually the first entry ships for Tau Ceti. Because of this, we will introduce an extra Tau Ceti armor that can be acquired in the Tau Ceti starbase, and which will render Parsecs stronger than Ancient ships. Also, we will adjust the current Sirius armor to be based on the extra armor you can get for Draconis ships when you enter Sirius. This means you will be able to use Parsecs in Draconis conquest again!
With best regards,
Your Splitscreen Studios Team
