2 questions (new to the game)

hi guys,

Question 1: New to the game, currently just want to play missions. When outside the Orbit zone (so I am on a planet or star travelling), could I get killed by a player killer (pvp) if I am Not in a Pvp mode myself?

I tried to dig it myself, but can't find the answer. My problem is on other games I played before is very discouraging when somebody with much higher level than yours comes and kills you and you are just new with a level less than 10.

Question 2: I know upon LogOff my data gets stored, so next time I LogIn I am with the same ship on the same location and items I had on the LogOff. Question is what happens upon disconnect, if I lose my connection - do I get periodically auto-saved?

No you cannot be killed by any player if your PM (Pirate Mode) is not on.
When on, you can only be killed on the planet.
Orbit, and Starmap are neutral zones.

You should always find yourself on the same spot, without any change, if you see changes you have proof of, in form of screenshots, then you have a reason to file a ticket to the support including the evidence.
Anyhow, we recommend you to orbit for to logoff, and also when there is announcement of a server maintnance or other shut down, you should go to orbit, and logout before it disconnects you to avoid any issues.

Question is what happens upon disconnect, if I lose my connection - do I get periodically auto-saved?

When you are disconnected, or you crash, there will be no change to your items etc. You might find yourself in a pod, if you have been attacked or have mantis around.
Fact is that you will remain a short while on the place where you disconnected, and anything can happen during that time.
There is no auto save on this game, just the real situation.

1. what's "pod"? Yesterday been reading the Wiki, but the vocabulary section there is empty.

2. server question - so this server thing is kinda unclear to me. i started playing on Askone, think it was suggested to me. started gaining XP etc and decided to read the wiki and so on where I've read that I must (for better connection) chose the server closest to me. that's fine, except I have no idea which is the closest. in the server status page here

we have no description over which server is where. well looking the locale could guess some, but english is spoken in too many places to guess where are all the EN servers. ops. yeah I've missed to try pinging maybe... anyway. so now if some of the other servers is closest to me (I live in Canada) would be good to change it.

then we come to this thing I've read that I can't just move to another server - I must create new pilot. which I guess involves starting from the begining - XP, ships, items...

so questions here are:

- is Askone the closest to Canada? or at least is it the one recommended for me?
- if "not" honestly I will be discouraged from playing if I have to start from zero on another server, even I am only level 8. except if the developers could transfer pilot data over databases of different servers

3. and final question - read about some gold blueprints, which offer the best goodies. are these to be found also by killing Mantis? I don't think I could fine one such in Vega, but who knows... ^^

Pod - The little Capsule you are in when killed bya a Mantis or another Pilot

Aeria - English - USA
Askone - English - Europe
Kalgan - International - Europe
Solaria - English - North America
It does not really matter what Server you play on, though closer is not always better

3. and final question - read about some gold blueprints, which offer the best goodies. are these to be found also by killing Mantis? I don't think I could fine one such in Vega, but who knows... ^^ All Mantis in All Systems can drop the Gold Blueprints - even in Vega
